If this turns out to be true...well...I can't even imagine how bad things are going to get.
That was Plaqueminnes Parish they were talking about... not New Orleans.

The humane shelters in Houston are caring for some, they are adoptables..I saw the article earlier today...I think their animal shelters moved them here early.. Personal pets with owners in NO ..that's a big problem.
People are first..Getting their owners to leave them will be a problem I would imagine.

WWL reported the Mississippi River has breeched its levees and holes throughout the levees.
yes! I didn't even think of it I heard the prisoner thing.
But can you explain WHY there would be a news blackout. Is that to prevent panic? CNN said someoe said this looks like Japan after the bomb dropped.
What is the latest on Shep. Did they get him out of there or is he still claiming NO dodged a bullet?
The looters that had stolen the seal were both shot.
yes; prayers for the children....and all other innocents in harms' way...darkness is coming.
The telephone system is destroyed and the 911 center is without power. There's not much else that they can do - except get the hell out of the way.
Which is exactly what I was telling my co-worker this afternoon while explaining why I was so down on looters. Words of wisdom from Barney Fife: NIP IT! (IN THE BUD)
I don't necessarily think looters should be shot dead, but then making them run the gauntlet (the good old-fashioned Indian way) is inconvenient.
Open your eyes and ears and catch up with the news. Welcome to FR btw...
"WWL is broadcasting and just said the Mississippi River has breeched the levees and holes all over the levees.
If that is true, they have to blow out the gulf levies."
Reporters make mistakes. If the Miss. River levy breached...well, that's that.
OK, I keep seeing this question over and over, even hear the media asking something similiar. I am thinking we have some Freepers that could explain it, but none have taken a shot at it. Now, I know if I am wrong y'all will correct me, but with all the rain that was dropped by the hurricane plus the tidal surge etc. are we seeing (or not seeing as in lack a observation of the natural world)storm water flowing out of the watershed to the lowest points? Is that why the water in lake P is not really going down, but rising slightly and continueing to flow through the breaches in the levees. Basic Watershed Science?
Why is that?
What on earth are you on about?
The President is going to have federalize the Guard and Police and take over -- Blanco etal. just don't have the ability. You never really know how you'll react to a crisis until you face a real one. Sadly, she's not rising to the occasion.
No your not!!!!!!
It's the Mississippi levy alright -- in Plaqueminnes Parish. That's farther down river from New Orleans. There is no news on WWL about the levys at the river in New Orleans.
