BREAKING!!! - Weldon says records were ordered destroyed!! (Able Danger)
Dom Giordano Show - 1210AM Radio "Big Talker" - Philadelphia | 29 AUG 05 | Vanity

Posted on 08/29/2005 6:23:38 PM PDT by Lancey Howard

Congressman Curt Weldon (R - Pennsylvania) gave another exclusive interview to Dom Giordano this evening (Monday) and broke the news that he will be giving a speech on September 8th (next Monday) during which he will present yet another 'Able Danger' witness. This new witness will attest (and will swear under oath when called) that he was "ordered to destroy records" relating to the 'Able Danger' program.

This order to destroy the records occurred prior to 9-11-01. Weldon intimated that it happened during the Clinton Administration.

The witness, who Weldon did not name, says that he was ordered to destroy records and was threatened with jail if he failed to comply. Weldon said that he has the names of the people involved, including the person who gave the order, and HE WILL NAME THEM in his speech.

Congressman Weldon also said that his staff has met with Senator Arlen Specter's (R - Pennsylvania) staff regarding the upcoming Judiciary Committee hearings. Weldon wants to be sure that everybody is on the same page. Weldon also said that he will do whatever he has to do to make sure that ALL the facts come out and that the process "is not manipulated".

Curt Weldon is like a pit bull on a steak. He expressed disgust with the "incompetence" of the 9-11 Commission and said that the victims of the 9-11 terror attacks deserve answers. Weldon is determined to see that they get them.

Weldon did express confidence in Tim Roehmer and John Lehman and speculated that perhaps the poor job done by the Commission was the result of an incompetent staff. Weldon sounded amazed and disappointed that so much important information was either glossed over or swept under the rug by the Commission.

Weldon will give his September 8th speech either to the National Press Club or to a "9-11 families" group which has asked him to speak. He apparently hasn't nailed down the exact venue yet.

(For those unfamiliar with Dom Giordano, he is a very good conservative local talk show host here in the Philadelphia area, an area which includes Curt Weldon's district. Weldon comes on Dom's show often and, like this evening, sometimes breaks news.)

Weldon did not say if the order was complied with but the presumption is that it was. There is, of course, always a suspicion that copies exist - - or at least there SHOULD be that suspicion raised and fueled. Chances are that part of Sandypants Burglar's mission was to get rid of 'Able Danger' evidence. It all fits.

Are you sure that Weldon has implicated Gorelick's wall, or is that a surmise based on all the discussion by bloggers?

It was Steve Hadley

Thanks!
It ain't easy driving, listening, and arranging mental notes all at the same time. I should do what those two scumbag Democrat teachers in Florida did - - drive around with a tape recorder in my car!

I hope Weldon's remark tonight means that he has confirmed that Hadley still has the chart,

That's the way it sounded to me.

"And all but the looniest of the lefties just look downward and shake their heads in embarrassment at Cindy Sheehan. In a week or so, the hurricane will be old news and Congress goes back in session. And the scandal will unfold in earnest."

I admire your optimism, and I pray you prove a prophet.

I hope this breaks wide open and I think it goes back to Clinton, it will not look good for Hillary after that. That woman scares me more than her husband did.

IMHO, that is why Burglar stole the documents. They were what remained of those that had not been destroyed. Clinton might have given the order initially and subsequent to the 9-11 hearings!

Yes. At this point it seems likely that Burglar was told to go to the archives and destroy evidence. I am getting more and more convinced that that evidence (at least some of it) was related to 'Able Danger'.

By the way, I also find it very interesting that just as this 'Able Danger' stuff was entering the radar screen, the judge in the Sandypants Burglar case decided to postpone sentencing. I simply do not believe in coincidence when it comes to Washington politics.

Regards,
LH

I suspect that the destruction of the records had more to do with data mining and the alleged violation of citizens' privacy rights. I doubt that AD had been approved by the DOJ or Congress or even the top levels, civilian and military, of DOD for that matter.

I am worried these fellas are not going to get the press and are going to be ignored for a lack of gravitas.

I am feeling like my liberal friends are not going to show any sensitivity or any cultural awareness to the situation leaving me quite frankly disenfranchised to the situation.

I will need to start a feelings group to bang drums together in the woods. Then we can start a group called Code Sandy-Danger for truth.

I am feeling Veklempt Talk amongst yourselves

Guilt by association.

Hillary's going to wish she didn't wear the pants in that family now.

Haven't heard much from her lately....
As I have posted often, I do not believe in coincidences of timing when it comes to Washington politics. I truly hope that somebody in the GOP (Rove?) was smart enough to have initiated this process in order to get Hillary Clinton out of her Senate re-election race and burn her for the 2008 Presidential race.

I hope Dom "The Hardest Working Man In Talk Radio" Giordano replays this interview on his Saturday show for those that missed it. His Saturday show airs from 12-4 PM on 1210 WPHT (barring the stupid Phillies games, of course)

Hope his witness is better than his calendar.

That was my mistake, not Weldon's. He said he was planning on speaking on September 8th and I went and looked at my August calendar. Sorry about that. September 8th is a Thursday.

CNN is busy finding grieving widows to blame Bush

That is what I think happened the first time around. What can story can they manuficture on September 8th? Or will they just shrug their shoulders?

You asked, "Who in the chain of command could order the documents destroyed?"

I find this quote of Keith Olberman to LTC Shaffer helpful in answering your question :
" First, his (Shaffer's) story, parts which of you have heard previously from Pennsylvania Congressman Curt Weldon, and while in 2000 and 2001, he (Shaffer) tried three times to get information about al Qaeda suspects in America into the hands of the FBI, that the meetings kept getting canceled by military lawyers, fearful the Army would be seen as using its resources against civilians who were in this country legally, and that those suspects eventually ended up hijacking planes on 9/11"

Well, Texas Songwriter, the head "military lawyer", the General Counsel to the Pentagon since May 24, 2001, is William J. Haynes II, a Bush appointee. Either his office, or his Clinton appointed predecessor, is the one who must have canceled Shaeffer's meetings with the FBI. I don't see it as a big leap at all to imagine Haynes, or his predecessor, wanted all Able Danger information destroyed, to keep the Pentagon out of legal hot water.

(Jamie Gorelick resigned as Pentagon General Counsel in 1995. I don't know who Clinton appointed to replace her, but whoever it was, he would have stayed in close contact with her in her next appointment as Deputy Attorney General.)Can't you imagine him calling his predecessor for advice on how to handle this Able Danger hot potato?

I think it was either that person, or William Haynes, who could have ordered the destruction of Able Danger documents. And I think the officer responsible for Able Danger, Shaffer's commanding officer, would have seen to it.
