Tropical systems all over the world spend the overwhelming majority of their time moving from warmer to cooler water, or to land.

They're mindless collections of air and water vapor at the complete mercy of the steering environment around them (I have a a much bigger problem with the silly anthropomorphizing cliche of "Hurricanes have a mind of their own!" though, which you see a lot).

The difficulty in their precise prediction is that it's impossible to know the environment around them unless you had a solid mass of millions of weather balloons and recon aircraft in and around the storm for a distance of hundreds of miles, which obviously is impossible.

God must be praised for His creating this storm and sending it upon men, many of which died. God works all things for the good of His elect. He is the creator of all things including those He's deemed good and evil.

Here are just a few scriptures...

Isaiah 45:7, (KJV) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Colossians 1:16, (KJV) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Rev 4:11, (KJV), Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Prov 16:4, (KJV), The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

Ps 115:3, (KJV), But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.

Lam 3:37-38, (KJV), Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? (38) Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

Job 2:10, (KJV), But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

Ps 92:5-7, (KJV), O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. (6) A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. (7) When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

Praise the Lord! Every molecule, every thought of man, every single event of time were predestined in eternity, all for His Glory. All that happens in this world IS HIS will and His pleasure, good and evil included. He created men for the purpose of them sinning, some of them so that they would be redeemed and saved by Christ on the cross over 2000 years ago and later reveal this knowledge of salvation to them through faith alone. Others were created to sin so that He might demonstrate His wrath against them for eternity. The carnal man says this makes God evil, but my God is not subject to any law and He cannot sin. He is also the definer of what evil is and therefore what He does is GOOD in His eyes. Who are we but mere men with being evil?

Rom 9:18-23, (KJV), Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. (19) Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? (20) Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? (21) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? (22) What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: (23) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Praise God for His absolute sovereignty, even in the face of such calamaties as hurricane Katrina. He demonstrated to the world His power and amazing glory today!

Soli Deo Gloria!

I agree with you, all these models we saw about how NO can be flooded (the Atlantis type flooding we were hearing about in the runup to this) - they need reworking, because I think they make some assumptions which are very unlikely.

Pray the Gulf Coast never gets a Tsunami. Tracking models won't mean squat.

it seems since the French Quarter didn't get flooded, nothing else matters.

To all the libs on the coasts, the French Quarter is the only thing in the Southern U.S. that matters.
