Probably a woman who did the estimating. Bad at measurements....

They can't tell 9 inches from 3 inches? ;-)

How do you see it changing, Iam? DH has headed to his office, and I think he is fed up with me bugging him for info every time I hear a new report.

The thing that is making me panicky is the potential for the wind to get under the roof and then lift more and more sections off

Maybe the hole will allow pressure to equalize on both sides and keep the whole thing from failing. I'm not a structural engineer though.

"I think reports that the city have dodged the worst were premature as the storm there is now at its maximum potential..."

Trust me, NOLA DID dodge a MOAB; the destruction that would have ensued if they were to the east of the eye would have been far greater...that does not mean that NOLA will not see significant damage, just that it could be a whole lot worse

It will be very interesting to see what kind of devastation occurred NE of NOLA...I do not know the area and do not know how populated that region is....anyone have any info?

I'm surprised she didn't blame Bush because NO is below sea level.

Give her a couple days - she will come up with an angle.

Any word on maximum wind speed? Is the storm stronger or weaker than predicted?

When the President of the United States has to call you up as governor and tell you to get it in gear to try to protect your citizens, you're pretty much useless.
