Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

ya know, that's thing. How do you leave your dog or cat behind? They need to accept them in shelters, maybe if you have a cage or something fof them. What a horrible decision to make to leave them.
She has got under your skin huh?
Carl Rove created this hurricane to take Cindy Sheehan out of the news.
He could open some of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This *is* what it was made for (among other reasons), as opposed to that stupid thing Klinton did with it "to drive down prices because we think they're too high."
I cannot imagine why they don't make a different entrance for the elderly. That picture really got to me as well.
Is the "reserve" there to use in cases like this? I know it wouldn't affect the prices...but I also worry if this is TOO bad, we would also have shortages...
Our weather experts here say that Katrina is such a monster that she's not affected by outside forces. She goes where she wants to go.
BTTT, Sweetie!
Well, he could start doing what he is being accused of doing in the first place: Steal Iraqi oil.
My guess is restrooms, with each having what 5-10 stalls in them?
Decreasingly so.
Also how come they do no have military C-130s airlifting those people who cannot get out?
Part of the problem is time. As recently as Friday night-Saturday morning, this was thought to be a Mobile/Pensacola event. To realistically evacuate an area the size of New Orleans, you need 72 hours (according to reports on WWL and WDSU). They just plain didn't have enough time.
The Fox reporter at the Superdome just interviewed some tourists who were waiting in the line. An Aussie and also some Brits. They were upbeat, just going through the motions, without seeming to have the slightest clue about what is about to happen. Awful.
The sewers are not going to be working...'bathrooms' won't be either.
FRegards,
Why are they stopping before dark??
I don't understand this "plan" at all.
Yeah, the Petro Reserve would be a good start. Maybe we can get more by promising to keep Pat Robertson out of Venezuela.
Open the SPR's. Fast track some new refineries. Attack Venesuela....Just kidding!
I posted this on the end of the other thread. Maybe someone will be interested in commenting here:

Re: the Superdome:
Because of the cuvature of the exterior, any lateral energy winds will be transferred verticaly literally taking the roof off. You heard it here first. They are being evacuated into a death trap IMHO.
That's what I was thinking. Who has that photo of it? Any engineer types who are reading this care to opine?
Are those the same links at the top of the thread?
Of course the Superdome saved New Orleans before. Does anyone remember that made-for-TV movie where the killer bees invaded New Orleans, and they defeated the bees by driving them into the Superdome then turned down the A/C in the dome to kill bees off?
