ya know, that's thing. How do you leave your dog or cat behind? They need to accept them in shelters, maybe if you have a cage or something fof them. What a horrible decision to make to leave them.

That's why when we get hurricane warnings here in SC I make my plans to evacuate...I'd never leave my best friend behind!

I would never leave my dog behind. I would have been gone yesteday and headed far out even if I had to sleep in my car. All shelters have that rule, I learned that in California earthquake situations.

I can't imagine having to make a decision like that.

My four cats have shown remarkable astuteness during various earthquakes. They seem to know instinctively where it is safe to go, but with a disaster like this there will be no safe place for the animals.

Special prayer for all the animals in the path of Katrina - and their owners.
