Extremely dangerous Hurricane Katrina is bearing down on the North Central Gulf of Mexico and New Orleans metro area. Thousands of people did not evacuate New Orleans. Outer bands of Katrina are reaching the Louisiana coast.
Due to the size and intensity of this storm, all interests in the North Gulf of Mexico should be in their safe locations.

This thread is full of real people, who are both interested and concerned about the event. Like the people in line at the dome, we'll be watching, talking, worrying and sometimes laughing.
And a few will be drama queens.
It's going to be tragic all the way around - I just pray that the cost in human life is small
No Update from BOUY 42001.. Uh Oh......
Last time people went to the dome, there were violent people. They are doing the right thing in confiscating weappons, and some bring knives, and booze.
You need to chill pal. We obviously know how serious it is or we wouldn't be here discussing it. But I'd rather listen to Jackie in the Superdome than crap like that.
Sounded like the Mayor said to have something that you can hack your way to the roof if you are in the French Quarter.
Certainly hope so. They should designate a smoking section.
I LOVE Geraldo. He is so melodramatic and goofy sometimes, it is easier to watch him than another boring anchor dude.
Gerlado is "camp". Plus, he asks or says all the stupid things that a lot of us think about but no one says cause its so goofy.
Plus, he really does like the troops and always gets them on tv and jokes with them.
doesn't this mayor sound incredibly relaxed, like he's giving this interview from an opium den or something.
Thanks for the info on Isaac's Storm, I'll tivo it.
I am digging thru my closet for things to send to Louisiana next week...I have many friends an co-workers in Houma, New Orleans, Harvey, Lake Charles and Lafayette...this is going to be devastating...
We,REDNECKS are ready!!
Got the beer on ice and the windows boarded...So lets rock
I keep hearing about how all of New Orleans will be under 20 feet of water. If this comes to pass, where are all these police cars, ambulances and fire trucks going to go? Are they being moved to higher ground tonight? And how will the 20,000+ people in the Superdome be evacuated if the city is sitting under that much water?
I think one reason is the smoke detectors in the roof
which activate powerful exhaust fans, probably not a good
thing during a hurricane.
This mayor is unbelieveable.
Janice Dean is almost crying again.
Link please.
That's 2500 cases of MREs (12 meals to a case) per meal for a 30K crowd. Hope they have plenty of CH-47s to continously slingload meals in for a week or more, because chances are they won't be able to deliver that many by truck fast enough.
I always that Proud Mary was about a River Boat.
It was Willowbrook and it led to a massive shakeup of the mental health system of NYC...........it was an unbelieveable piece of investigative journalism. and basically launched his career....which was excellent, until he let the media PR about him go to his head.
