My daughter and I had a chance to drive around SF during a 5 hour layover. I had access to a rental car. This was the first time I'd ever had a chance to drive the famous Lombard Street. We ate lunch in Chinatown - had a great time, then flew home.

My office is across the street from the Crocker Galleria, a half block from the explosion, but luckily, I didn't go into work today. The exact location of the incident is the NORTHEAST corner of Kearny and Post.

Incidentally, I can't remember when I have laughed so hard at any thread. And thanks for all the pretty pictures of my work neighborhood!

"Was Cohn a lawyer maybe?"

Yes, I believe Cohn was the lawyer.

Yeah, I've walked past that spot a few hundred times, myself. We were just lucky our number wasn't up today.

Thank for the ping Karl.

Looking close, it appears that was the sidewalk they were referring to that was pushed up. I imagine that took a little force.

Barry Bonds head finally blew from the roids

I hope you mean steroids.

Of course, it could be in suppository form, in which case it'd be "asteroids."

Freepers can be as crass and juvenile as can anyone. And San Francisco threads tend to bring out all the tried and true jokes.

I wonder what a floor warden is? Never heard that description before.

The floor warden stays behind and makes sure everyone gets out safely. Ours stands in front of the elevator and yells "the stairs, you idiot! Take the stairs!"

I'm not very far into these posts, so I still am ignorant. But at this point, with manholes and gasses etc., SF was NOT the place for this to happen. Even when it got real, I thought it was all still a joke.

"No. Inside the building they told us it was a bomb. It was the NY Times and CNN which were pushing the transformer story. I even tried to call CNN to tell them they were wrong and they said they already heard what I had to tell them. So IMHO they deliberately pushed the false transformer story."

And the OKC and TWA800 and Long Island, and, and, and. How many points make a straight line again? In all planes?

"Only four customers lost power."

So, it WASN'T a transformer. Everything else is a cover story.
