"Not saying HE was a homo, but he allowed one or two on his staff."

I've read a lot about Joe, don't recall reading anything about that. You may be correct, I don't know.

Bomb squad on-scene is an insurance move in case there is evidence at the scene indicating something other than a transformer problem. You think your average PG&E guy could identify -- or would even think to look for -- powder burns or the shattered fragments of a timer or detonator?

So, why would you expect any different in this post-9/11 era? It's probably become SOP to roll the bomb squad for an explosion of any kind -- just in case. Their presence should not, however, be directly translated into "it really WAS a bomb and there's an active cover-up going on."

So IMHO they deliberately pushed the false transformer story

Yeah, we wouldn't want to have people think Billy Boy was lax on terrorists and it happened on his watch now would we?

I've identified the source of the problem here.

It was the man with the drill.

""It sounded like a big poof, then there was a lot of smoke,"

You can't make this stuff up.

Okay.  Thanks for the info.  I'm nowhere near a TV and the 'net is not giving any real info so I have to bug people here for updates.

Really, lighten up. If every news story about an explosion in a city gets you this tense.

No one is tense. The only problem here is adults taking like 13 year old boys, thinking this is all funny, throwing out the queer manhole jokes. It's stupid. It's reported some unfortunate woman is laying in burn center right now over this.

You want to stand up for these adolecent comments while some innocent woman has been transported to a burn center? Be my guest. No problem.

You probably have been told where to find the definitions so I will just tell you.

Bump - Puts the thread at the top of the Latest threads page

Ping - puts it in your "My Comments" so you can check it out later.

Bump and Ping do the same thing, it just tells the intent of the poster.

Thus we now have transformers that use mineral oil which is very flammable.

Actually, mineral oil is considered only slightly combustible.
It will burn, but it does not readily ignite.

kinda like the plane crash in jersey

Or the Long Island plane crash from "Jet Wash" right after 9-11 that actually fell in the neighborhood of a lot of the firefighters. Most underreported plane crash I've ever seen.

Another unintended consequence; when they redesigned the transformers and replaced the non-flammable PCB-based cooling oils with ordinary mineral oil, we began to see major explosions of over-stressed transformers and resultant severe burns.

The utility companies are too lax in their inspection and replacement duties on overage electrics.

Yes, that's the one I meant, I mistakenly identified it as New Jersey ... very strange.  Something definitely wrong with this one.

Clowns:
Some children are afraid of clowns.
Frightened children are not funny.
Therefore no one should laugh at clowns.

Golf:
Lots of people are killed by lightning on golf courses.
Dead people are not funny.
Therefore no one should tell golf jokes.

Tin pot dictators:
Some people try to impose their will on others.

Some of them enforce their will by running people through chippers.
These are not funny.
Some of them enforce their will by throwing tantrums on the keyboard and trying to set themselves up as self appointed posting police.
They are not funny either.

FR is a big place. Lots of different people. We don't all like the same things. Difference is most of us ignore the parts we don't like and don't try to impose our particular likes/dislikes on each other.
