Ann Coulter step aside! We have someone who really knows how to talk to liberals

The Lady has met her match.

Lawyer turned columnist Ann Coulter, who wrote a book advising people on how to talk to liberals, is being upstaged in rhetorical audacity and pensmanship by another lawyer. Blessed with an IQ three standard deviations above Ann Coulter's, John Glover Roberts, Jr., President Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court , delivered such stinging rebuke to Reagan-era liberals that his words would bring satisfaction to the reddest of the red meat conservatives.

Some choice phrases and words he employed while composing reviews of Supreme Court decisions or memos for his bosses in the Justice department show a young Reaganite with the cocky certitude of George W. Bush and the explosive wit of Mark Steyn. For example, when three liberal Republican Congresswomen endorsed the controversial idea of equal pay for "comparable" worth, Roberts lashed out at them with the fury of Joe McCarthy face to face with the Rosenbergs: "Their slogan may as well be 'From each according to his ability, to each according to her gender."

When Rep. Elliott Levitas (D-Ga.) suggested convening a conference with President Reagan to discuss "the manner of power sharing and accountability within the federal government" in response to a Supreme Court ruling on the matter, Roberts issued a sarcastic and contemptous statement rebuffing this idea, stating "... there already has, of course, been a 'Conference' on Power Sharing. It took place in Philadelphia's Constitution Hall in 1787, and someone should tell Levitas about it and the 'report' it issued."

More recently, as a sitting Judge on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, he mocked the Endangered Species Act as it relates to Interstate commerce, using the example of a "hapless toad" to illustrate the absurdity of the liberal argument.

In his contemptful dissent in a case against a liberal majority that ruled that it was not reasonable to search the defendant's trunk, even though he was caught driving a car with stolen licenses plates and no registration, Roberts wrote "sometimes a car being driven by an unlicensed driver, with no registration and stolen tags, really does belong to the driver’s friend, and sometimes dogs do eat homework, but in neither case is it reasonable to insist on checking out the story before taking other appropriate action."

And that is the crux of the matter. John Glover Roberts is better at verbally decaptitating liberals than Ann Hart Coulter could hope to be. We ask that Ms. Coulter defer to her literary and intellectual superior.

I don't see why it was necessary to bash Ann Coulter, to praise Roberts.

Robert's bold statements are about as ..blah blah blah

I am glad you are open to being convinced. But you also need to be open to reality. Roberts' statements, which belittle and humiliate members of Congress are nothing BUT incendiary.

Now do you think people (Men) are even concerned with Ann's IQ?

Someone has to show her who's boss. Just kidding. I lover her as much as anyone else. But in this case, she is just plain wrong, and we need to call her for it.

Isn't anyone worried that now that the rats have met Roberts and talked with him they aren't so eager to fight the nomination? It isn't like the Pubs have put up a juggernaut to push the nominee thru.

I still put this at McCain's doorstep. Everyone was ready to fight the fight over the filibuster and his gang of rino's snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Now we have another stealth nominee.

Agree the judge is brilliant, but the writer makes it sound like Ann Coulter is equal to Janine (I don't have to spell her name right) Garafalo in intellect.

Pathetically weak attempt to make Roberts look better to conservatives.

No, because they have been fighting him.

What do you believe the intent of stories about the Roemer pro bono work or Playboy were meant to do? Split the conservative base. It failed.

Ditto the lies The Senator from Oregon, Durbin and Feinstein have told to name only a few about conversations with Roberts that did NOT happen that were meant to weaken his support among the conservative base.

Ditto the talk that he wasn't as "conservative as they feared".

It's all been a front job to get us to take him down for them.

I still wouldn't count out a frontal assault as the hearings commenced. But in the meantime since they have failed to split the conservative base, they've retreated to the request for documentation they used to block Estrada.

Roe is the issue for her. Since the left is not bouncing off the ceiling proclaiming the death of western civilization to save Roe, she reasonably concludes the fix is in, and he is a squish on the subject. The deduction may not be accurate, but that is clearly the reasoning.

Are you bitter or something? This was an obvious typo. You don't see that?

Hey, do not get to worked up about it, reason I did it, was because some of the Freepers are pointing that to me all the time.

It must be that I do speak 7 Languages and sometimes in the heat of the moment the grammar/spelling doe's not jive.

So, I get smarmier and I do this.... just for the fun of it!

Does she not realize that if Bush nominates someone is a Roe bomb-thrower like that, he would not get confirmed? There would be not more than 45-47 votes for such a candidate.

Ann Coulter's reaction to the latest John G. Roberts disclosures was not immediately available.

Bite your tongue. I am besieged by John Kerry voters, and I come to this site for a bit of respite from the mindless hordes living in my very own neighborhood.

As to your comment concerning John Roberts, ...Why should I be optimistic concerning a fellow who is indeed relatively unknown? Ann Coulter makes a lot of sense raising questions concerning his background and potential future votes.

The man has yet to prove a thing to me. Sheite, talk about seven of nine, guess how many current SC justices were appointed by Republicans? It is in the end, incomprehensibly, a crap shoot when it comes to appointing judges.

How unfair and unjust that is.
