Ann Coulter step aside! We have someone who really knows how to talk to liberals

The Lady has met her match.

Lawyer turned columnist Ann Coulter, who wrote a book advising people on how to talk to liberals, is being upstaged in rhetorical audacity and pensmanship by another lawyer. Blessed with an IQ three standard deviations above Ann Coulter's, John Glover Roberts, Jr., President Bush's nominee for the Supreme Court , delivered such stinging rebuke to Reagan-era liberals that his words would bring satisfaction to the reddest of the red meat conservatives.

Some choice phrases and words he employed while composing reviews of Supreme Court decisions or memos for his bosses in the Justice department show a young Reaganite with the cocky certitude of George W. Bush and the explosive wit of Mark Steyn. For example, when three liberal Republican Congresswomen endorsed the controversial idea of equal pay for "comparable" worth, Roberts lashed out at them with the fury of Joe McCarthy face to face with the Rosenbergs: "Their slogan may as well be 'From each according to his ability, to each according to her gender."

When Rep. Elliott Levitas (D-Ga.) suggested convening a conference with President Reagan to discuss "the manner of power sharing and accountability within the federal government" in response to a Supreme Court ruling on the matter, Roberts issued a sarcastic and contemptous statement rebuffing this idea, stating "... there already has, of course, been a 'Conference' on Power Sharing. It took place in Philadelphia's Constitution Hall in 1787, and someone should tell Levitas about it and the 'report' it issued."

More recently, as a sitting Judge on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, he mocked the Endangered Species Act as it relates to Interstate commerce, using the example of a "hapless toad" to illustrate the absurdity of the liberal argument.

In his contemptful dissent in a case against a liberal majority that ruled that it was not reasonable to search the defendant's trunk, even though he was caught driving a car with stolen licenses plates and no registration, Roberts wrote "sometimes a car being driven by an unlicensed driver, with no registration and stolen tags, really does belong to the driver’s friend, and sometimes dogs do eat homework, but in neither case is it reasonable to insist on checking out the story before taking other appropriate action."

And that is the crux of the matter. John Glover Roberts is better at verbally decaptitating liberals than Ann Hart Coulter could hope to be. We ask that Ms. Coulter defer to her literary and intellectual superior.

The right word would be "Decapitating" (a.k.a. cutting the head off)

It should be mentioned one of those Congresswomen was none other than our 'beloved' Senator Collins.

I must admit when I heard that new addition to the saga it was a delicious bonus.

The Lady has met her match.

Dream on.

As the layers are peeled back, it is becoming more and more clear that Roberts is no Scalia, or Thomas and his allegience is to stare decisis, not the constitution.

Well, honestly, if you're a lawyer, unless you're a high profile defense lawyer, you're generally ignored. Just another name of the docket, and I guess Coulter wanted to do something more with her life then just argue civil liberties cases and be in the background.

She built up enough contacts to be able to go places.

John Kerry made part of his bones as a prosecutor (to put in perspective how weird this is, notice he never ever mentioned during the campaign, and his convention edited out all referances to it, kind of tells you something about the dems).

She could have gone DOJ, and moved up the ranks, high profile defense lawyers, generally stay defence lawyers, its not often you see them made into judges or moved up the ranks (DA, AG, etc).

Her background suggests, she had alot of oppurtunities to go places in the legal profession, she just kind of dumped the whole thing.

Really.. Ann Coulter is the leanest meanest RINO exposer of all time..

Roberts is a RINO selected by a RINO.. expecting to horn in on Elephant doins.. He worked for Ken Starr and when Starr fired all "the competent" personal in Clintoons imprunement.. he KEPT Roberts there.. thats a bad sign.. Roberts might be more incompetent than STARR..

Coul·ter: a cutting tool (as a knife or sharp disc) that is attached to the beam of a plow, makes a vertical cut in the surface, and permits clean separation and effective covering of the soil and materials being turned under.. Roberts is just a YES man.. looking for a soft place to land..

Maybe Ann read up on the last Justice Roberts that was on the Supreme Court. He was an intellectual like this Roberts, conservative and republican, then he switched sides and became a Roosevelt toady.

I wasn't aware that Joe McCarthy went face to face with the Rosenbergs.

He probably didn't. I think Roberts meant that as an analogy: If McCarthy were to go face to face with the Rosenbergs...

Are you bitter or something? This was an obvious typo. You don't see that?

Wow. Didn't know Reagan was a RINO.

silly.
even if you were right in a literary sense, it's neither here nor there in terms of ann's accurate assessment regarding the roberts' selection by the president.

I guess you should tell that to Justice Roberts, who in a question and answer session in '97 stated the Supreme Court has the right to overturn or restrict precedent. Perhaps even reading his responses to the questioning of current Sentors you would have read a response stating a Justice should not rest solely on precedent when arriving at decision in a case. But, I am sorry. I know you prefer to believe a fantasy over reality so feel free to continue doing so.

I'm not convinced. I'm open to being convinced, but you haven't done the job. Robert's bold statements are about as incendiary as a forgotten doughnut in a cold cup of coffee.

Dissing Ann in order to pump a relatively unknown quantity?

Go to your room.

I agree with Ann about 95% of the time. The other 5%, including Roberts, she goes so far off the reservation one has to wonder if lunar cycles are at work. That 5% consists of emotional rants rather than her usual logical arguments.

Sadly, there are some Coulter cultists (similar to Patsy's Brigadiers) on FR that brand such observations as heretical. For indeed, to borrow from Monty Python's "Life of Brian," she is the Messiah. After all, they ought to know since they've followed a few.

Couldn't agree more. The trick is to decapitate the liberals without alienating everyone but the base. Ann can't do that.
