Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks – if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.
"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."
"I don’t know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.”
Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.
"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.
Rush predicted the pre-emptive strike, expect him to review that on today's show.
It's the classic MO of the clinton-spin-machinery. You can defeat your enemy if you can defeat their strategy, not by reacting to their actions. Rush understands this, that's why he is so effective.
The best way to defeat the clinton spin strategy is to predict it publicly before they begin delivering their message. Explain why they will and must deliver these pre-emptive 'strikes'.
If every lurker and every FReeper can each change just one heart that might vote Dem in 2006 or 2008 with this approach, we will win BIG...

If you go back in histort to when Bill Clinton was raising in political power and was first elected Pesident[by the infinate wisdom of the American voter] that most of the reporters that did go after him are no longer in this world.
I've always given Clinton the benefit of the doubt....but this just takes the cake......this puts him up with Carter in my book....what an ass clown.....

Sadly--there are many people who still believe him. He wouldn't have done anything more than lob a couple into the dessert. What a sad and dangerous joke he and his administration was for the country.
According to the Patterson book, slick was busy at a golf outing and wouldn't authorize the attack on OBL.

IIRC, there's a lot more to the EO than just the ban. But since 43 has made it clear that he'll take UBL dead or alive, I'd say 43's made it pretty clear about how he feels on the subject of assassinating UBL.
Guess he believes his 'shoulda, coulda, woulda' explanation will cover his useless political a$$ and make it appear he and his administration, including his wife, actually cared about anything other than Politics.
