Clinton: I Would Have Attacked Bin Laden
NewsMax ^ | 8/15/05 | NewsMax

Posted on 08/15/2005 8:08:34 PM PDT by wagglebee

Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks – if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.

"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."

"I don’t know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.”

Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.

"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.

"Able Danger" must be causing the Clintons to sweat a bit.

Not one word about what military intelligence had on OBL and his terrorists.

Miss M..the ONE thing that is absolute proof that there is a lot more to the Able/Danger story than has yet come out is the fact that since it first broke a few weeks ago, the 9/11 commission members haven't been seen anywheres in public. Normally media whores...BenVeniste, Gorelick, et al have been incommunicado....

Well, BillyJeff, you had EIGHT years to do something about Bin Ladin, not eight MONTHS as Pres. Bush had. I think Monica was the bigger threat you were worried about, you pathetic loser.

Good luck. Not only do you have to outlive him, you also have to live long enough to get to the front of the line.

I must agree with both of you. There is defnitely something to Able Danger, as Clinton's comments and the absence of the 9/11 commissioners suggests.

In addition, add the curious effort to trash Welton immediately, portraying him as a conspiracy nut who wants to sell books.

Yep, there is, though the LSM will never acknowledge it, but then again, who cares since we know the truth and they're irrelevant just like Clinton.
That is the exact problem though. Too few know the truth and the media isn't getting it out to enough people to correctly inform them. We few at FR and other sites who know about this stuff, and in a total numbers game we are few, simply aren't enough to counter it all. This information needs to be broadcast greatly.
I keep hoping and praying that the tide will turn in that aspect sooner rather than later.

A response I sent to a Lib on this very same day!

Besides the OBL Sudan connection, this author also offers up another "wall" screw up."
Miniter: "The Clinton administration was in the dark about the full extent of the bin Laden menace because the president's decision to treat the 1993 World Trade Center bombing as a crime. Once the FBI began a criminal investigation, it could not lawfully share its information with the CIA — without also having to share the same data with the accused terrorists. Woolsey told me about his frustration that he had less access to evidence from the World Trade Center bombing — the then-largest ever foreign terrorist attack on U.S soil — than any junior agent in the FBI's New York office."

(Of Course King Klinton was helpless to change the policy if indeed it existed. He was able to flaunt the law in every other aspect of his personal and presidential affairs but couldn't find a way to protect the country. )

Read on about OBL
http://www.nationalreview.com/interrogatory/interrogatory091103b.asp

Vanity Fair printed lies?
"ACCORDING TO TIM CARNEY, THE LAST U.S. AMBASSADOR to Sudan, whose posting ended in 1997, “The fact is, they were opening the doors, and we weren’t taking them up on it. The U.S. failed to reciprocate Sudan’s willingness to engage us on some serious questions of terrorism. We can speculate that this failure had serious implications—at least for what happened at the U.S. Embassies in 1998. In any case, the U.S. lost access to a mine of material on bin Laden and his organization.” He tells Rose, “It was worse than a crime. It was a f***up.” <

Really holding back on how he feels?
http://www.drudgereport.com/matt91h.htm

The Washington Post?
Unable to persuade the Saudis to accept bin Laden, and lacking a case to indict him in U.S. courts at the time, the Clinton administration finally gave up on the capture. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&node=&contentId=A61251-2001Oct2

They knew about OBL since 1993, possibly before and couldn't come up with Jack Shat!

Yep, those are his words. Right up there with "If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age."

If Clinton gets out in front of the Able/Danger story..as he is trying to do here, then they can depict it as just "political attacks"...
