Ex-president Bill Clinton now says he would have taken out Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks if only the FBI and CIA had been able to prove the al-Qaida mastermind was behind the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.
"I desperately wish that I had been president when the FBI and CIA finally confirmed, officially, that bin Laden was responsible for the attack on the U.S.S. Cole," Clinton tells New York magazine this week. "Then we could have launched an attack on Afghanistan early."
"I dont know if it would have prevented 9/11," he added. "But it certainly would have complicated it.
Despite his failure to launch such an attack, Clinton said he saw the danger posed by bin Laden much more clearly than did President Bush.
"I always thought that bin Laden was a bigger threat than the Bush administration did," he told New York magazine.
If Bill Clinton has been president in in 1939, he would have prevented World War II and Pearl Harbor. He always thought that Hitler was a bigger threat than the Chamberlain and Roosevelt administrations did.
I hope you realize that I am not comparing Nixon to Clinton! I am saying that the media and the public didn't mind calling Nixon a criminal. I think Bill and Hillary both belong in prison personally!
Wait just a damn minute. Didn't Clinton try to bomb bin Laden for the embassy attacks in Tanzania and Kenya which killed hundreds? Clinton had eight years to go after bin Laden after the first WTC attack. Now he wants to talk tough? Please.
Dear Billy Bob bubba, STFU you vile POS.
GET IN LINE!
I believe that the line is getting very long. Can you imagine Hillary as President and this clown back in the White House?
Clintons Take Away $190,000 in Gifts
Whole page of links to "gifts" articles
Did they take the Gilbert Stuart painting of George Washinton??
Here's the one you posted from the White House art site
Clinton's Triangulation Today
I agree.
Another blast from the past: the taking of the White House furniture and art gave birth to "The Guild" threads on FR.
I saw those in my searching ... unbelievable, the lasting open wounds and scars those despots will continue to give US.
Shyeah. Probably the same way you attacked Juanita Broaddrick.
Thanks for the laugh. I need to buy my brother a box of those.
Pathetic..
Isn't amazing how we're not hearing about ROVE, PLAME, WILSON, MILLER ?? Cindy Sheehan has completely shifted the focus, and I have to wonder if that's not premedidated and, if so, WHY? Sheehan will not displace Able Danger, IMO. The MSM is harping heavy on Sheehan and Iraq .. besides the crime stories. What's up with this picture and why aren't they screaming for Rove's head?
"You won't believe this!"
Got here late, thanks for the ping. :-)
Oh, But I do..but I do. I think there is NOTHING that Bill Clinton wouldn't say or do to cover his arse and aide Hellary's run in 08' (his third term). Just like he came out the other day to fend off Pirro's growing poll numbers by saying that he doubted Hillary would be running in 08' or maybe never.
And now this, which is an obvious attempt at damage control from Able Danger, Sandy Burglar.
The list of atrocious lies is mind boggling, yet he still gets print from his darling LSM. How could anyone in their right mind believe this charlatan. That he is quite willing to go on record with such pathetic and transparent lies is testimony to the extent the LSM and supporters will go to cover up and representative of the idiocy and gullibility of his former constituents and now Hellary's. God forbid his witch gets in power.
/end sick to death of Clinton lies, won't they ever go away rant
Gary Schroen, a former CIA station chief in Pakistan, says the White House (Clinton's) required the CIA to attempt to capture bin Laden alive, rather than kill him.
Oh yeah, you "capture" a threat. Riiiiiiiight!
Al Qaeda absent from final Clinton report
The final policy paper on national security that President Clinton submitted to Congress 45,000 words long makes no mention of al Qaeda and refers to Osama bin Laden by name just four times.
The scarce references to bin Laden and his terror network undercut claims by former White House terrorism analyst Richard A. Clarke that the Clinton administration considered al Qaeda an "urgent" threat, while President Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, "ignored" it.
The claim has been made before and discrecited then as well.
Clinton called him "perhaps the preeminent organizer and financier of international terrorism in the world today."
Doesn't sound like he called him a threat to me.
Losing bin Laden
Mr. Novak revealed a secret meeting discovered and reported in the book, by its author, Richard Miniter which took place in the Clinton White House after the bombing of the USS Cole.
The meeting in October, 2000, occurred twenty-six days before voters decided who would succeed Bill Clinton.
Snip...In fact, according to Miniter, Clinton passed up 11 other chances to kill Osama Bin Laden. Some would say Clintons failure to take out this deadly terrorist is his real legacy. Today, Bill Clinton is quick to disclose how he obsessed over the problem of Osama Bin Laden. But was his obsession, as he puts it, more about how to avoid possibly unpopular and dangerous foreign policy decisions?
Snip...Director Tenet, according to witness reports, wanted to conduct more investigation, even though Mr. Clarke thought there was sufficient evidence to blame Osama. Cohen was quoted as saying that the attack on our ship which nearly caused it to sink, and took the lives of 17 sailors, was not sufficiently provocative. Cohen now denies he said this, but one wonders what it would take to provoke him.
Bill Clinton said he didn't inhale either.
And if you want to know for sure that he's still a lying pile of manure then consider that Secretary Albright designated one new FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organizations) in 1999 (al Qa'ida) and another in 2000 (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan).
(The Process
The Secretary of State makes decisions concerning the designation and redesignation of FTO's following an exhaustive interagency review process in which all evidence of a group's activity, from both classified and open sources, is scrutinized. The State Department, working closely with the Justice and Treasury Departments and the intelligence community, prepares a detailed "administrative record" which documents the terrorist activity of the designated FTO. Seven days before publishing an FTO designation in the Federal Register, the Department of State provides classified notification to Congress.)
Such a great threat that bin Laden's group wasn't even added to the FTO list until 1999!
bttt
well he did atttack bin Ladin in 1998, with no effect at all
