A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Love that one of the log cabin. You posted pictures of part of the inside before, too. I remember the staircase. :) (I think it was that one)

I think it's my image, I'm not sure though. I'm going to see if I change it, if it makes a difference. The boarder I picked may dictate that space??

Billie, how would she get rid of the space atop pix & below words.. I looked & there were no br (with html)You noticed that, huh? You can't get rid of the space above and below the way it's set up, because that background with the side borders is set at a cellpadding of 60. (it's a left side border background, but it repeated itself on the right, because the total width of that left-bordered background is only 500 pixels. Also notice that the table doesn't have a specified width.) The graphic is a little over 400 pixels wide, and since there is no other width specified, the bordered background is 'padded' *evenly* 60 pixels ALL the way around the picture. I didn't change anything, really, except to make the border pretty much even on both the left and the right sides, and changed the picture from a < table background> to an < img src> (since I think GBU wanted the text on the light blue)
Amy does a lot of the left side bordered backgrounds, and makes them just wide enough to have that border on both sides....BUT, she plays with the width of that background until it is just exactly the right width to show the border evenly on both sides, and doesn't have the large cellpadding.
Hope that makes sense!

My favorite!
The ones I just built will not be so elaborate.
Of course it's not a log cabin either.

That makes sense. I was going to ask you about those type of backgrounds. I think I'll stick with the regular square ones. ;)

,b> "We just have to have a prayer circle and all pray that you don't lose, Rus!" Ah, but I already am aboard, Luvvy, having prayed for The Mayor and Jul and their children for 4 or more years, I think.
We became friends before you left Buffalo to go to Virginia, if I remember correctly, Rus.
Followed your progress on the log house and others there -
'helped' you move back to Buffalo and settle back in...:))
Looking back, we also pray and still do for their friend, Russ, wife Dawn and family, after Russ had a terrible, crippling fall from a ladder.
The Finest is a wonderful support network of believers all across America, and across the sea, with snugs in England.

Your work is so impressive, Rus, on the new two story addition to a house, and of course, the log one in Virginia.
We delved deeply into building a log home 22 years ago in North Carolina, where there are many. One we really loved had a less dark interior than most, some of the walls with wallboard and plaster, and we were able to go through all its stages, with the permission and approval of the owner - sometimes led us through it himself.
His parents had a lovely home on a lot of farm acreage, and he built his across the road, carefully gathering all the stones for the fireplace and foundation from his land, and placing them himself. Of all the places I have lived in eight states, the only one I truly miss is that Piedmont section of North Carolina...Greensboro/Winston-Salem areas.
It was so lovely and diverse, with easy reach of both the coast's beaches, and the wonder of the mountains.

I think I'll stick with the regular square ones. ;) For now, they are probably easier to work with. You may want to do the side borders later though. You're really finding such pretty, pretty backgrounds!
