A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~ Billie, Mama_Bear, Dutchess, Aquamarine, DollyCali ~

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

Hey, isn't that Nan's house in the pledge?

Yes, it sure is. It's Nan's photo, taken in the springtime, I assume, because of the trees blooming.

I am going to work my way through this thread and answer every ping, if it is the last thing I do. I just hate to post a thread and not be able to "hostess" it. But, it couldn't be helped yesterday.

The Worry Box

Read:
Philippians 4:1-9

Do not worry about your life. —Matthew 6:25

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 3-5

cover I heard about a woman who kept a box in her kitchen that she called her "Worry Box." Every time something troubled her, she would write it down on a piece of paper and put it in the box. She resolved not to think about her problems as long as they were in the box. This enabled the woman to put her troubles completely out of mind. She knew they could be dealt with later.

Occasionally she would take out a slip of paper and review the concern written on it. Because she had not been drained by anxiety, she was relaxed and better able to find the solution to her problem. Many times she discovered that a specific worry no longer existed.

Writing your worries on paper and putting them in a box may be helpful, but how much better it is to place them in the hands of God. Worry robs us of joy, drains us of energy, stunts our spiritual growth, and dishonors God. Jesus said, "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:34).

Let's believe the Lord's promises and trust Him to meet our needs. Placing our problems in His hands is far better than putting them in a worry box. —Richard De Haan

Never a trial that He is not there,
Never a burden that He does not bear;
Never a sorrow that He does not share—
Moment by moment, I'm under His care. —Whittle

When we put our cares in God's hands, He puts His peace in our heart.

Good Morning Mama_Bear! Beautiful thread.

Thanks, Mrs.N. I can't take credit for any of it though...it's all Billie's work, except for the links to the week's threads and the pledge graphic. I try to remember to add Billie's name to the TGIF thread when I post it, but forgot this time. :-(

Also, I noticed in my pings that I forgot to change part of the date in the title. Did you have that corrected, Billie? I see that it has been changed so that it is now correct. If you did, thank you. :-)

Have a nice day, you two.

Thank you good Mayor for your daily lesson in God's word. You always make my morning start on a better level.

I once heard someone say--"Worry is like a rocking chair--it never gets you anywhere!"

With God to guide us, we don't need to worry--just to lean on him.

How are you this weekend. Getting some well-deserved rest? How's Mrs. Mayor. I hope she's gonna talk to us some more. We had fun!

MLouieMax came home this morning!!!

Amy, as I told you in a private mail and again at dinner last night, I am so happy that LouieMax has returned! I was so worried about him. I can see from the photos you posted yesterday that he doesn't look any worse for the experience.....in fact, judging from the BIG smile on his face, it looks to me like he had a great time on his adventure! ;-)

I didn't see this picture before. Very Lovely!!

That is our very own Finest WVNan's lovely home in West Virginia, where JustAmy, PrissyMissy, Scubachick, Babychick and Mama_Bear were invited to stay on our visit to her beautiful state last week.

Stay tuned for a Finest "trip report" from all of us next Tuesday and Wednesday. :-)

**smile**

LouieMax is still resting. Must have been some adventure. He hasn't shown any interest in getting out of the yard. Maybe he is happy to be home.

We have a full day planned.

While we were at dinner last night, a little neighbor boy came by with an invitation for Marissa to his birthday party. Not much time to shop. Now she will add another name to her list of boyfriends. :)

And Monday is Michael's birthday. We will be shopping this morning.

Love the dog haiku.

LouieMax has grown into a very BIG dog. He is still very lovable; he weighs twice as much as Marissa so when he gives her a kiss, he knocks her down. :)

Hope you are having a great Saturday.

Good morning, Nan.

Marissa loves LouieMax but Junior is more her size; she can pick him up and carry him around with her.
