She's pretty much right. But the democrats don't take criticism very well...

While the Democrats are busy bashing Bush -- a second-term president who is not running for anything -- the Republicans are working on their strategy for victory in 2006 and 2008.

I, too, have been amazed at their constant carping about Bush.

What's the point, he's not going to run again?

Glad they haven't figured that out yet, LOL.

So anyway, whatever happened to that so-called "alternative to Rush Limbaugh" that was supposed to be such a big hit? I'm talking of course, about that pencil-neck geek called Al Franken. I still have yet to hear the show although supposedly it has found some sort of "niche" on the radio dial somewhere. Probably it's on that station that features "Prarie House Companion" which I actually heard once or twice. Now Prarie House Companion has to be the most awful show I have ever heard in my life. Is that supposed to be humorous or is it just some bad parody that didn't make it to Saturday Night Live?

On second thought, Dims, we "love you just the way you are..."

Don't go a-changin' on us, please!

I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't wake up every day and read about how y'all are imploding.

After 8 years of reprehensible "Clintonism", it's a breath of fresh air to listen to your pathetic mewlings as you take defeat after defeat and scratch your head wondering "Now why don't they like us?!?".

It far more than than the defeat of your candidates that brings a smile to my face, it's the complete and total scorched-earth destruction of the foundations of the rat party itself. The collapse of unions, the fleeing of common sense minorities to political positions that will serve them and not enslave them to the Democrats, the comicly entertaining self-destruction of the old liberal media institutions and their prima-donnas of propaganda as well and the ongoing fallout in Hollywood as Americans who are sickened by the filth liberal actors spews simply ignore them.

FReepers continue to frolic in the garden of Democrat Despair...

The beliefs of the left have been implemented since the 1960s and have resulted in deadly social pathologies, loss of freedom and unfettered terrorist access to innocent Americans.

Unless the country suddenly has a massive collective amnesia of the last forty years, I really can't see how Democrats can convince voters, at this point and time, to hand over the country.

Its hard to deceive the people when the horrific consequences of leftist rule is staring us in the face.

And powerless the Democrats will remain -- unless more of them win office.

One usually has to search the walls of a roadside latrine to acquire such astounding wisdom.

This woman is completely wrong. Totally in error. The democrats are just fine the way they are and shouldn't change anything except they should work harder for gun-control and to make abortion available free in every high school. Oh, and much higher taxes too.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

They should be listening, for once, to what voters are thinking, not telling voters what is wrong about their thinking and their past choice on election day.

No, I think they should keep telling voters what's wrong with them, really pound it in! Voters love that -- who wouldn't? ;-)

Dumocrats are the absolute keepers of all truth, if you don't think so, just ask one. Let them hang on their arrogance until they choke.
Maybe Canada will take them in, if we offer to pay.

Democrats don't listen to this. 2004 is just around the corner and your focus is desperately needed on that election.

This from the Boston Globe? Better finish this 1st cup of coffee and re-read the article. (sarc)

Good read. I think, however, Democrats aren't just still fighting the last 2 elections, they are also still fighting the Vietnam War and Nixon. The Boomers never grew out of the sixties, and now that they're in their sixties, they're showing their drug induced senility.

My, Oh my - A Joan Vennochi moment of clarity. Think anybody in MA is listening, intellectually capable of listening, able to stop bloviating or emoting long enough to listen or otherwise sober enough to know what she's talking about? Not bashing Bush may be heresy in Beantown.

I like how Vennochi turns the defeat of Hackett in Ohio into a partial victory. She makes no mention of Hackett's use of some Bush, 'get-tough' audio for one of his campaign commercials... how he almost hid his Democrat affiliation.

Schmidt was another weak-spinned, Ohio Republican... and as long as Ohio Republicans nominate this type of candidate, Democrats will always be tough to beat.

I bet Vennochi's just 'dyin to do a column on Hillary!

IT IS TIME for Democrats to stop moaning about John Roberts and John Bolton and start doing something productive -- such as figuring out how to win elections.

Well, hey . . . they did enjoy a stunning, astonishing victory by having Hackett lose by less than they thought he might.

Isn't tht progress of a sort?

(Yeah. Rignt.)

Roberts understands how to market himself to the masses in a way the abortion rights lobby never learned.

I always found it ironic that the people on the left, who see themselves as such compassionate humanitarians, are the only ones who every uses the disgusting, elitist and condescending term "the masses" to describe people.

Democrats should also do with stem cell research what Republicans did with gay marriage:

The article does a reasonable job of stating the obvious but I doubt that basing a campaign around the slogan "Stem Cell Research Now!" is much of a political winner.

In his campaign, Hackett called Bush a ''chicken hawk" for failing to serve in Vietnam and ''a cheerleader for the enemy," for goading Islamic militants to ''bring it on." It was not a winning strategy against Bush in the past, and it wasn't for Hackett against Schmidt. His attacks caused Republicans to throw money and resources into the race. Besides, chicken hawk Republicans have a track record for knowing how to dissect and dismantle war heroes, from fellow Republican John McCain to Democrats Max Cleland and John Kerry.

I am sooooooo glad this little turd, Hackett, lost in Ohio.

BTW, how is it that Hackett is considered a "war hero". Is that in as much as all of our soldiers are heroes? I share that sentiment, but I would be surprised if this was not the first time it was embraced by the Boston Globe.
