It isn't any Iraqi army...

Those pour souls who didn't got blown up at te recruitment centers are not soldiers...
For years this is the only way to get some income, so they sign up to get some money to feed their family.

Recruitment? Recruitment centers. Why isn't there just Marial Law and general conscription and curfews and so on. The Iraqis should have 600,000 men under arms now. Instead its like the country is trying to remain normal and combat this insurgency as if it were just a passing crime spree.

Draft everyone between 16 and 56. They don't report they die. We need to stop halfazzing in Iraq. Time is not on our side. Our enemies are developing nukes and we are still playing nice with a bunch of punks with RPGs!

They have GOT to start giving us enemy head counts to balance out these US death tolls. These make it sound like we're getting cut to pieces.

This is a war, we can't control how the enemy chooses to fight back

Ah, yes you can, its called killing them. Level their cities, until the surrender of they are dead. Start with Damascus, then Tehran, then another and another. This fighting in Iraq would dry up without support from Syria and Iran.

II Expeditionary Force command now knows that Haditha is important to Mr. Z. They're probably going to stay awhile.

Why in Gods name do we stay awhile? Level the place and leave a message that this is what happens when we have to come back to your town more than once.

Don't upset the locals, the Europeans are getting edgy, careful with the UN, the lefty libs are throwing a fit, don't enter the mosque, we're uppsetting

. Yes, I agree. That is exactly what I don't want to happen!... Things are changing all the time! Wait when the casualties approach or reach 2000... You will see, what is going to happen, especially if the Criminals/head-choppers, start killing our guys in bunches of 7s, and 14s at one time... It's HARD to take for too long. Sorry, although I understand the IDEALS and the practicality of it, the reality it's hard to take. I hope, the Administration never forgets this is WAR!.. and like Rush says, War is not pretty and you go there to kill and destroy things. I say Bush needs to be even more aggresive with IRAQ, SIRIA and the others. IRAQ has to hurry up and do what they have to do, if they really want to have a shot at democracy or anything like it.

Oh well, Ranting yes, it makes feel a little bit better and I hope you all understand and put up with it [smile'

After the September 11th attacks, I came to the realization that this war with Al Qaeda was going to be a war of annihilation. You cannot come to some sort of peace or truce with Al Qaeda. They are more irrational than the Nazis. You have to defeat them completely. Meaning you defeat them militarily, you defeat them ideologically, you try and execute their leaders. It's appalling to me that decent young Americans have to die in this struggle with fanatic nutballs. I hate wars as much as anybody. But does anyone know a realistic alternative?

I think people forget about how long it took to root out Germnay and Japan after WWII

It didn't take anytime to "root out" Germany and Japan after WW2. Why? First, because we went in and killed them by the tens of thousands and they feared us. Second, we did not allow anyone to send them supplies and arms like our President allows Syria and Iran to do.

I'm saying this to 68 grunt; arasina; and F-16 fighter cuz you probably remember, this IS just like Vietnam. It was largely car bombs and booby traps and the media played it like it was a holocaust

US OUT OF IRAQ NOW!

Pardon me, this is too serious not to put a sarcasm tag. It's probably too serious for sarcasm, but that's how I react.

This is a different kind of war. The president, the SECDEF and anyone else connected to it has said that from the beginning.

Happy Birthday.

Anyway. "This is a different kind of war." is a phrase that has been used by Roosevelt and as far back as war itself. Heck the Persian were saying that about Alexander the Great. His daddy Philip said it about his opponents when he suffered one of his few defeats at the hands of an enemy with catapults.

"they are the only country in that region that allows us to have a military base there, at that time. Sometimes you have to put up with crap to get things done.

They only allowed us to have a base there to protect their sorry asses from Sadam. Once we got rid of Sadam they showed us the door. And no I don't agree that we should put up with state sponsored terrorism against our country. Isn't that why we took Sadam out because he was the head of a country that sponsored terrorism agains the US? If we followed your theory Sadam should've been invited to Crawford right along with the king of state sponsored terrorism himself, King Fhaud.

Remember, it was everything the President could do to get the UK on board and deploy in Afghanistan and in Iraq without the UN backing.

I don't know how much of a maverick this President could have shown himself to be all at once in rectifying a disastrous situation which he inherited from the whole constellation of misalliances and maladroit foreign policy moves of the previous administration and still escape a call for impeachment which the Left would have raised. He did what he could, (and more) when he could and his judgment and actions were assailed even in that. There is just so much he can do independently.

Bush's policy is wrong.
The way to go is to have 3 states here.
Kurd, Sunni, Shiite
At the end of the day, the only ally we have their are the Kurds.
Its so stupid to force the Kurds to be apart of Arab Iraq.
Their needs to be a Kurdish state here with Kirkuk as the Capital.
Not one single American has been killed in the Kurdish section.
If their is no Kurdish state, then we have nothing their.
