Bush's policy is wrong.
The way to go is to have 3 states here.
Kurd, Sunni, Shiite
At the end of the day, the only ally we have their are the Kurds.
Its so stupid to force the Kurds to be apart of Arab Iraq.
Their needs to be a Kurdish state here with Kirkuk as the Capital.
Not one single American has been killed in the Kurdish section.
If their is no Kurdish state, then we have nothing their.

Do you think the Kurds can survive without our continued long term military help. I mean, they have no outlet to the sea and are surrounded by enemies. Iran, Turkey, Sunnis to the south. Maybe if the Kurds took out the Sunnis they'd have a chance but in their present situation they would get ganged up on quick, wouldn't they?

What about the turks, arn't there a lot of them living in the Kurds zone of control?

I'd prefer to let the Kurds loose on the Sunnis until the Sunnis surrender. Use them like our Ghurkas or something. I'm aware the Kurds are helping us out already. Do you think they can do more or are they maxed out.

Yes, the Kurds are our ally. However, this will piss of our NATO ally, Turkey. When we withdraw from Iraq, this would allow the Turks to gobble up Kurdistan. I'm not sure if that's in our best interests.

The problem with the three state solution is a geopolitical one. Turkey, one of the "moderate" muslim states would object. They have their own kurdish minority "problem" and would not want to have that minority get the notion of breaking off and joining an independent kurdish state.
