I see that my one term congressman sold out.
Who's that?
Joe Scharwz, Michigan.
Thank you to the GOP members who stood up to the pressure from the Protectionists.
Go Cafta! Go Free Trade! Thank you GOP for standing up and voting 'YEA' to smart economic policy.
Well my congress critter sold out the middle class yet again.
Interesting to see that my Representative, Scott Garrett (R-NJ) voted no on this. I was not educated on this topic enough to come down on either side, but considering that Garrett (who I've only disagreed with a handful of times) voted against this combined with certain freepers who supported this, I'm leaning towards concluding that CAFTA is a bad thing.
Are you being sarcastic? I think CAFTA is a crappy idea. Why is this "smart economic police?"
Mine, too. When I called yesterday afternoon to inquire as to how Forbes intended to vote, I was told by his staff that they do not give that info out over the phone.
"Sold out the middle class"--does that mean he voted no?
Free trade is the future. I'm glad that some people in Washington have the cojones to recognize that and push it forward. The 'RATs are the ones looking backward.
Capitalism, Freedom and Free trade works everytime it's tried.
Agree.. There are people here, who along with the Dems, would prefer to still be going to work in a horse & buggy.
I see that Mike Pence voted for it and the great Ron Paul voted no..
Free trade only works between free economies. When only one side has a free economy, that side will get screwed. The market, given a disparity in standards of living, will seek the lowest common point. Ours will go down, theirs will go up. Great deal if you're living in the Dominican Republic (or, at least are in the ruling elite), bad news if you're trying to sell to them.
The CAFTA & NAFTA agreements seem to just syphon jobs from the U.S. to other countries. Some of us live by the "skin of our teeth" waiting to see if our jobs will be exported. Just because the jobs/business goes elsewhere does not mean the product will be better...just chintzier.
I'm not happy with my rep's vote on this either.
Culberson, F'n Aye, Jack.
