"Sold out the middle class"--does that mean he voted no?
Free trade is the future. I'm glad that some people in Washington have the cojones to recognize that and push it forward. The 'RATs are the ones looking backward.
Agree.. There are people here, who along with the Dems, would prefer to still be going to work in a horse & buggy.
Free trade only works between free economies. When only one side has a free economy, that side will get screwed. The market, given a disparity in standards of living, will seek the lowest common point. Ours will go down, theirs will go up. Great deal if you're living in the Dominican Republic (or, at least are in the ruling elite), bad news if you're trying to sell to them.
There is no free trade without fair trade. Trading with countries that we can buy from cheap because they can exploit their workers in ways workers here can't be exploited is simply our government shackling american workers. Hey, if we MUST work in dangerous sweatshops to compete, then that' what we have to do. We can't have all these rules and then sit idle.
OTOH, with all the kvetching and complaining, we are at full employment and the economy is still heating up.
He voted yes, and I will can not see me supporting him in the future.
