In my book the Yea voters don't care about the Constitution or our country

Which language from the Constitution are you talking about? How does restricting what we have access to fit into the Constitution, which was written as a restriction on our Federal Government?

Yep. It's nothing more than a redistribution of wealth on an international scale. That same wealth redistribution is normally decried by conservatives when it happens with Americans. Were the other countries playing by the same rules as us, then it could be called "free trade".

NAFTA had nothing to do with the flood of illegals. This is one of the most absurd arguments on the entire debate.

As long as California and other socialist states continue to grow social programs faster than the economy of Mexico (which is growing, very very well mind you), there will be large numbers of people who want to come in.

If CAFTA & NAFTA are syphoning jobs from the U.S., why are all the jobs going to India and China?

Aren't CAFTA and NAFTA agreements with Central and Latin American (North American) countries?

My congressman, Baghdad Jim McDermott, voted no. Since he represents the globalist cultural elite here in Seattle, I guess he was reflecting the views of his constituents. ;-)

Good for Candace. Our state is going to get pummeled with another "free trade" agreement & applaud her on the border control vote.

The five Republicans from Kentucky voted FOR the new "SHAFTA" and the one Democrat voted against it. The sellout continues.

Jobs aren't leaving. NAFTA was a 800-pound gorilla, and the United States, already an economic super power, grew even stronger in the time period since.

Jobs have been created faster than the population has exploded. The U.S. labor force is going to be tight as it's ever been in history when the boomers begin to retire.

Explain the wealth growth and standard of living improvements in America since NAFTA, a free trade agreement hundreds of times larger than this one.

Pence is a free trader(60%).I do not agree with all aspects of the bill, but we must undermine China moving in on Central and South America and we must undermine the MANY far left movements that are reemerging in Central and South American. This bill will strengthen and weaken America in different ways.

Is it the responsibility of the Government to "control" market segments or is it the role of the market to control itself?

It's the responsibility of the government to remove as many obstacles from free trade as possible.

Best case, it means lowering taxes, regulations, and restrictions wherever possible.

When dealing with other countries who artificially control their own industries and standards of living to keep their products more cost effective, it means protecting our industries against an unfair advantage.

It's about keeping the free trade model on a level playing field. It's not happening. We're signing onto these "free trade" agreements with both hands tied behind our backs.

I don't have a Congressman at the moment, since he left his seat to help the President get CAFTA past the paleocons and the 'Rats.

Great job, Rob Portman!

Statistically speaking, for each job outsourced, there is a net gain of jobs in this country. Too many people are letting their emotions cloud their judgement. The standard of living, number of jobs, and buying power of Americans on average continue to climb regardless of the fact that we have been "losing jobs" overseas for decades. The Soviets, on the other hand, prohibited the use of backhoes in order to preserve jobs for their ditch-diggers. Protectionism has never worked.

"I'm simply stunned at the ignorance of economics and history on here of what otherwise would seem to be reasonable people."

That's funny... I feel the exact same way about the "Conservatives" who supported CAFTA. :-)

I suppose any treat we sign then becomes the Supreme law of the land...Was NATO unconstitutional?

Not all treaties are unconstitutional. Only the ones which establish an international government.

The US Constitution has in it written that only Congress has the power to declare war. Not NATO or the UN Security council. Yet who is it now that sends our boys to die in pointless foreign no-win conflicts? The UN Security council. Congress, by permitting the UN security council to determine whether we go to war or not, is committing an unconstitutional act. But the UN charter says that the Security council shall be the body which determines whether a given UN member (US included) shall go to war. So there is a conflict between the US constitution and the UN charter.

Ergo UN charter is unconstitutional. And NATO, which carries out the wishes of the UN Security Council, is by default unconstitutional as well.

Again, this is not true of all treaties, where there is a simple covenant established between 2 or more nations, and no shadowy international organization with tens of thousands of wonks paid for with your tax dollars to undermine your government's authority and your way of life.

"Our state is going to get pummeled with another "free trade" agreement & applaud her on the border control vote."

Our State deserves the pummelling that it will receive. When you live by the socialist sword, you can be killed by the socialist sword. The political group controlling state politics, need to start learning of the consequences of their actions.
