Rendell to send apology to Marine's family
Pittsburgh Tribune ^ | 07/25/05 | Sandra Tolliver

Written apologies will be sent to a fallen Marine's relatives angered by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll's uninvited appearance at the soldier's funeral and her criticism of the war in Iraq, Gov. Ed Rendell said Sunday.

Rendell said he will send a personal letter to the family of the late Marine Staff Sgt. Joseph Goodrich, of Westwood, and will ask Knoll to do the same. Goodrich, 32, a police officer and infantry unit leader, died July 10 in a mortar attack in Hit, Iraq.

Rendell said he hadn't spoken with Knoll about the incident, but was disturbed by the family's charge that she made a political statement against the war.

"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," Rendell said during an appearance in Mt. Washington.

Geez, nobody zeroed in on the fact that she's 74 years old.
That's pretty old! Could it be something like dementia setting in on her flabby ass?

Does the fact that she's old mean we should cut her some slack? Nooooooo. The fact that she's old means that Cindy should have been at the funeral, and would have kicked Knoll's A reel gud, without having to feel any guilt for whoopin' up on that silly bag-of-bones' hiney.

"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war.

This is the typical liberal line. That's like loving Derek Jeter but hating the Yankees.

So should he. It's certainly Rendell's business to support the war.

If it's not state's business to support the war, then it's not state's business to support the soldiers fighting the war. Stay away from the funeral, its not your business.

No, traitor Eddie, it IS the business of all States in this Union to support our war effort. And if YOU do not, that -- in your elevated position of authority, a traitor. Nor, Fast Eddie, are you "supporting" the men and women in the services in any way at all without a committment to support the war effort. It is like a traitor to attempt to deceice, though.

To this point, I submit this

And to this point I would submit this!

Thank You Notes and Cards for our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for 9/11

I am not sure why you would call attention to an obvious left wing slanted POS of liberal speak but I assure you it is not even close to how our servicemen feel about their country and the folks back home.

Perhaps if the liberal, left wing MSM publicized the efforts by Americans that support them whole heartedly, even these "disgruntled" anonymous sources the NYSlimes quote in their obvious attempt to undermine the war effort, would feel differently.

You certainly are not helping the effort by calling attention to attempts to disparage our soldiers and the risks they are taking for our benefit.

Every true American would sacrifice anything asked of us in order to support our military in their time of need. To suggest we would not is just pure BS.

How dare you people criticize Fast Eddie Rendell? After all, Algore called him "America's Mayor" (AFTER 9/11).

"Where is the original story? Didn't say that the government in PA was against the war? What hell will that do to bring that family their dead son back??? DUmbass dems, unbelievable."

All the PA National Guard, and Air National Guardsmen and Reservists from that State should be pissed, not to mention all the active duty military and their families.

Not good enough!

You're right, it's not good enough. A family slapped in the face while burying their son requires more than a lame apology.

I'm sick of liberals saying they support the "troops" when they don't support the men, their leaders, the war, the mission, or the Commander in Chief. What it comes down to is liberals support young healthy men in uniforms. Period.

"It's not the business of state government to support the war, but our state supports the men and women who are fighting this war," Rendell said

The two cannot be separated. If you support the troops, you must also support their mission. If you're not supporting their mission, you are undermining the troops.

Does'nt seem like PA is too patriotic to this resident and voter---if they were, they would not have gone for another POS like Kerry in last election

Voter fraud from Philadelphia alone handed the state to Kerry. This is a fairly red state with blue blotches.
