Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's cover?
It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.
Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:
He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.
Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.
Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful ("hot") wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.
I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.
However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair.
Importantly, perhaps, and inferentially corroborative of the above account is the fact that David Corn in the Nation did an article on Valerie Plame's identity evidently (& reportedly) a day after he met with Joe Wilson.
Don't they realize, that they are setting themselves for ANOTHER huge humiliation, like Rathergate?
It must be ending soon. Bush is too happy, and he's nailing the press and the democrats as if he wants them to go ballistic so when the big bomb drops they're HISTORY!
One could fantasize about a "Perry Mason" moment-of-truth or Courtroom Confession as you so humorously (& irionically) suggest:
"I am waiting for Wilson to confess..the only thing of interest he could possibly say in my opinion."
Agreed.
Thanks for the great picvure break featuring Joe Wilson as a
literary embellisher, or Diplomat Speak for "Liar," as you say.
P.S. I like your profound tag-line:
"If you want peace, prepare for war."
Whats the part about God in your quote?: "For the deeds of (Or will of?) God are written." Who first said these things? (I forget.)
Dittos to your tag-line:
"God Bless Our Troops!"
Dittos to your tag-line's grim & prophetic warning:
("A people without a heritage are easily persuaded (deceived)" - Karl Marx)
The first article to *name* Valerie Plame was not Novak's, but David Corn's...and Corn attributed his sole source in his article as being Joe Wilson.
So we've known that Wilson leaked his wife's name since 2003, from the 2nd story ever written on the subject.
Old news.
It was Joe Wilson! It was ALL Joe Wilson!
It was a dark time in America! George W wanted to start a war that would oust a dictator who worked with Al Qaeda, thus cementing his reputation as a liberator. The DUmmies wept! The Democrats in congress trembled! Bush quoted British intel! Kerry supporter Valerie Plame had an idea and sent future Kerry advisor hubby to investigate something other than what Bush said. Hubby found nothing that pertained to what Bush said! DUmmies continued to weep, but tears of joy! The NYT was ecstatic! Karl Rove was accussed! Alas, they all went off to celebrate in a hippie bus, and Ted Kennedy took the wheel! THE END!
The thought that Wilson somehow planted the information has been on my mind for quite some time.
Re: "Old News" (Sarcasm?)
Oh yeah, Did you also know that Plame herslf may be a Grand Jury Target in the CIA leak probe?
Yes, you are correct that David Corn of the Nation reportedly met with Joe Wilson a day beofre he released Plame's ame as a CIA "agent", as my last sentence alludes to, as follows:
"Importantly, perhaps, and inferentially corroborative of the above account is the fact that David Corn in the Nation did an article on Valerie Plame's identity evidently (& reportedly) a day after he met with Joe Wilson."
Moreover, Cliff May, was perhaps the first one to write about this connection and he and othrs are, I might guess, (maybe I know something you don't?), seeking inferentially corroborating accounts like mine.
It may be "Old News" to aomeone as informed as you, but the mainstream media (MSM) are studiously ignoring it, as expected.
You must be one of the Pod People?
I think it does leave a liberal democrat source at risk of some kind.
If it were a Republican and the source said go ahead and tell all, they would spill the beans instantly IMO.
I think she is mostly in jail right now to make hundreds of thousands of dollars if not millions down the line with lectures and books. Wait and see...
She'll attempt to be the darling of the free press at all the liberal functions for money.
It's about potential money for her.
RE: Your comment:
"The thought that Wilson somehow planted the information has been on my mind for quite some time."
Your intuition is borne out by at least two accounts of Wilson-as-blabbermouth re: His wife's CIA status, Corn's (left) and Hanson's (not-left).
Intersting hypothesis of yours.
Getting jailed for freedom of the Press makes her bankable for lectures, speeches, books and as an expert for going to jail over this.
It is a great career move.
She will end up a millionaire at least twice over from this.
I love your creative writing though, which is quite good and would be funny if it only WERE funny.
I was, in contrast, using two historical sources, one, David Corn, a leftist writer for the Nation, a left-wing political magazine, and an eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson's account of this first-hand encounter with Wilson.
So, getting an apparent leftist(?) like you to actually read is evidently a stretch.
I also used modifiers like "A Source" not "The Source" as you sarcastically imply when saying "It ALL goes back to Wilson.."
I too wish that were true, especially the last bit with Teddy driving the hippy bus! SPLASH!
You are corect taht she can become & is a "cause cleb" and may be quie "bankable."
However, I do not presume to fathom her real motives. Maybe it is to protect Valerie Plame as her WMD series "Source" (?) as my friend Daviod Horowitz and columnist Jack Kelly have suggested.
That is an even more interesting & momentous hypothesis.
If my wife was a covert CIA operative, and if I truly loved her and my country, I certainly wouldn't draw attention to her by drawing attention to myself by entering into a sophomoric public pissing match with the President.
Fair enough & I hereby ABJECTLY apologize for mistinteprreting your truly humorous comments.
Corn & VDH tend to corroooborate a picture of Wilson as a vain, probably insecure, self-promoting egomaniac.
You ARE funny!
You are NOT a Leftist, as I hastily & INCORRECTLY inferred.
Sorry!!!
--- & Thanks for the clarification, my friend.
(It is late; I should goto bed!)
