Punk? Me? Pot meet kettle.

I'll note your reply as unresponsive.

Still waiting for you to prove Judge Roberts is anything but a conservative. If all you have for rebuttal is the same numbers (minus 1) in confirmation that the horrible liberal devil Scalia received.

If you haven't got anything better than that boy, you might want to keep your mouth shut. You're beginning to sound like a drunken Teddy Kennedy tonight.

Deputy Solicitor General, Mr. Roberts co-wrote a Supreme Court brief in Rust v. Sullivan,1 for the first Bush administration, which argued that the government could prohibit doctors in federally-funded family planning programs from discussing abortions with their patients. The brief not only argued that the regulations were constitutional, notwithstanding the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade, but it also made the broader argument that Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided - an argument unnecessary to defend the regulation. The Supreme Court sided with the government on the narrower grounds that the regulation was constitutional.

No problem.

Did you notice the times W had a positive twinkle n his eyes tonight? It was just about every time he stuck it to the dems.

Yes, W was enjoying himself all day today. He's made a brilliant move and he knows it. The twinkle was really showing.

>> I answered you with both his opinion on Roe V Wade and endorsements from Ed Meese and Ken Starr. Someone else has mentioned HHugh Hewitt and Mark Levin think this is a great choice.<<<

I am encouraged by Levin's endorsement, but not the others. I believe Robert's opinion on Roe vs Wade was as presidential council (which means it was the president's opinion - not necessarily Robert's opinion).

Thanks for your posts, but as aforementioned, I will reserve my glee until Robert's proves he is no Kennedy.

Never try to teach a pig to sing.

It will frustrate you and annoys the pig.

LOL...

I don't really relish the thought of Gonzales, but I'll tell you one thing: IF President Bush were to trust the man enough to nominate him to USSC, I WILL trust THIS President's judgment despite my reservations.

I don't think Gonzales will get a USSC nod from Bush, though.

"Then, all the government interference sends many overseas rather than go through the "system" here."

An absolutely abysmal result of circumstances here, and the abortion legacy.

Perhaps you (and a lot of other people) bought into the liberal opinion the the filibuster "deal" was a sell-out. For many reasons, it was not and it is working well for the conservatives. The liberal press is now writing articles that the deal screwed them. It really just postponed the inevitable nuclear option vote, if the Dems want to try obstructing again. They won't.

So the deal was not a sell-out and it cut the rug out from under the Liberal Dem leadership. But their goose was cooked anyway because they had no way to stop the nuclear option.

The demon spawn aren't going to like this. Too bad. Let's roll!

GREAT clarification of the "deal".

I'm amazed so many still don't understand what happened there.

McCain's statement is the kiss of death to any filibuster thoughts.

Thanks for finding and posting that.

John Roberts: A home run for the president, the SCOTUS, and for the United States.

Judge John Roberts may be the smartest lawyer I have known, and he combines that intellect with a graciousness and good humor that will make it hard for any except the most extreme ideolouges to oppose him. Here's his bio, but it cannot fully convey the great intellectual force which Justice Roberts will bring to the SCOTUS.

Full disclosure: Judge Roberts and I were colleagues in the White House Counsel's Office in 1985/1986...
