Look. Part of our job, seeing as we are a lot of tiny voices, is to yell at the top of our lungs when leadership heads toward the bad zone. That means the Prez or the Congress or whoever. That is what Free Republic is for. We are all Republicans and this is our place to be heard.

They are plenty upset.
Read beyond the front page.

Schumer's strategy is to outwardly approve so people like you will reject a good judge.

Search FR and find the thread and read it.

"a Supreme Court Justice out of Central Casting."

Really. He could not have made a better pick.

Nope, I was warning Bush and the Republicans the consquences of nominating another Souter as every conservative should have been given the Republican party's very poor record of nominating judges.

If not for principled conservatives demanding otherwise, Alberto Gonzales might well have been the pick.

Shouldn't there be an I.Q. test before someone is employed at FOX?

Alan, we're not naive. We know the Democrats' code words. We know leahy was advocating drawing out the process as they've done with Bolton. We know Chuckie was advocating a filibuster. We aren't stpid. neither are the American people. this is why you are out of power.

I'm dreaming the same dream, except that mine doesn't stop there.... in mine President Bush still gets to make 2 more nominations to the SCOTUS!!! Chief Justice Thomas will be pleased with the majority of his colleagues by that point..... :^)

Roberts clerked for Rehnquist. It may be that Rehnquist was told that Roberts was the likely nominee and now Rehnquist wants to stay on to welcome Roberts to the Court in the October term.

If he is a Constitutionalist as some have said on this thread then he recognizes the right to keep and bear arms.

Voted for rehearing in a case about whether a developer had to take down a fence so that the arroyo toad could move freely through its habitat. Roberts argued that the panel was wrong to rule against the developer because the regulations on behalf of the toad, promulgated under the Endangered Species Act, overstepped the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce.

Good. Maybe he'll help reverse that insane Kobe property-seizure ruling.

How's he on guns?

Gonzales was the pick only in fevered minds that expected betrayal at every corner. It was not predicated on his actual record of slecting Justices.

People that doubted or believed differently, have been discredited with this pick. Whether or not they acknowledge it.

And what, pray tell, did she find in his record to so upset her?

There were many a person here defending Alberto Gonzales and defending him. That's who we may well have been stuck with if we blindly followed Bush and the Republicans rather than standing on principle.
