Senator Barbara Boxer appearing on Fox News this afternoon was asked about the 'Gang of Seven' deal not to Filibuster nominees unless it is Extra-ordinary circumstances; declared that "with the right to privacy and Roe v Wade on the table this is an Extra-ordinary circumstance and the Filibuster is on the table".

Well people they just moved the goal posts.

Well, Barbara Boxer is not one of the gang of fourteen, so what she says doesn't matter. It's what the gang of fourteen say they meant, and most have been quite clear that ideology was not an issue.

What she says matters not a twit.

There was/is big significance to the number seven.

Take seven away from the Republicans and they don't have 51.

Add seven to the Democrats and they have 51.l

Barbara Boxer is not one of the 14, not a party to the deal. The deal resumes her vote would go in a particular way.

She's just shooting off her mouth.

DEMOCRATS like Senator Nelson of Nebraska have also disagreed with Boxer. She can't speak for them because she ain't one of them.

Of course. For liberals, abortion is their sacrament and truly constitutes an "extraordinary circumstance." People were dreaming if they thought the Left would agree to a Supreme Court Justice who won't uphold Roe. Expect the Democrats to filibuster if the judicial nominee isn't a "mainstream conservative" aka RINO or moderate Republican.

DeRINO is up for re-election next year. I am hoping some Republican with a backbone will challenge him, but unfortunately, I have heard no one wants to go up against him because of his large warchest. RINOvich was just reelected. I have been researching the whys and wherefores of recall elections here in Ohio without much luck. The GOP is going to have a hard time holding on to statewide offices next year due to a bunch of scandals that have broken wide open in the statehouse. I don't know what effect it will have on DeRINO's election. Jerry Springer just might have a chance! ))))shudder((((

Expect Boxer to attempt a filibuster even if it is a 'mainstream conservative' RINO. Heck, she'd probably filibuster a moderate choice from a Democratic President!

If Roe v. Wade is overturned, abortion is NOT illegal, it just becomes a state issue.

Then the Constitutional Option is on the table. And, by the way, the right to privacy to do what? Publish Kiddie Porn? Beat your kids? Marry your dog?

Yes. PArt of the trick to successfully mounting a filibuster is that you have to keep all 40 members on the floor at the same time.

The GOP needs only 50 votes to drop the nuke. Several members of the gang of 14 have said they would oppose the filibuster. But that doesn't mean that they would drop the nuke. We need six out of seven "gang" Democrats to oppose the filibuster, or three Republicans "gang" Republicans to drop the nuke.

Actually, we should need only five filibusterbusters, or two nukers, but Specter was not a member of the gang of 14. I suspect he was too their left, not their right.

Democrat Ben Nelson said the nominee should get an up or down vote, but he may only oppose the use of the filibuster, and not the "nuclear option." If I remember correctly, certain Democrats echoed his opinion.

Boxer didn't even sign the agreement, so why does it matter what she thinks constitutes "extraordinary crimcumstances?"

I think it can be done, unless there is revolt within the GOP Senate caucus. After all, not all the Democrats are hardline liberals like Boxer is...the lines do get blurred somewhat between the party boundaries. It will be close though - I am worried about it being 58-42 or 59-41.

We need 5 Democrats to echo his position. If it is 60-40, the Constitutional Option is unnecessary.

This Donk bullshit is all designed to get GWBush to name a damn moderate/liberal to the Supreme Court so that Senators can avoid a nasty fight. Republican Senators are too cowardly to mix it up with the Barbra Boxer types and the Donks in general.
DONK strategy is to hold out and obstruct the Bush Judicial appointments until Hillary gets the White House.

A defining moment for GWB. If the Democrats (including McCain and other Rinos) approve of the nominee in any number at all, it's the wrong choice.

The only good choice is one that gets the demos going postal. And that doesn't take much, just a good constructionist Constitutional choice. You know, an honest Judge that won't legislate from the bench.
