TICK TOCK...............
Yes. She's Catholic. Hopefully, not like Kennedy, Kerry, etc. If she's a Catholic that abides by the church teaching, she's pro life.
So you are thorny for Howlin?
Oh really - please direct us to your source of esteemed knowledge in these regards
I'm saying that if she is a GOOD Catholic, or I should say a Catholic in good standing, then she must be personally and professionally opposed to abortion, homosexual marriage, homosexual adoption, many of the things the left holds dear.
In fact, they will try to hoist her upon the petard of "deeply held personal convictions", which they cannot be allowed to get away with because it is the worst sort of religious bigotry -- it would mean no serious person of faith (especially Catholic at this point) could ever serve on a high court.
Oh yes, if Mrs. Clement is a practicing Catholic it could lead to the shoot-out at the O.K. Corral.
I don't care if queers marry each other.
Maybe it will keep them away from the parades. :)
Amen to that, that comment about which one would you chose is probably the nastiest, viscerally hateful post I have ever seen. What is wrong with that Guy?
THAT ISN'T THE POINT. The point is that Roe took the power out of the hands of the people and eroded the democratic process. It is the ultimate example of judges setting themselves up as dictators of our land. That issue is as important as the issue of abortion itself.
Secondly, if Roe were overturned, all states would be free to implement further restrictions on abortion and would. Many states would outlaw abortion for convenience sake. WE CAN'T EVEN PASS A LAW BANNING PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION thanks to the tyrannical court system.
That's it? I think she made that comment in response to questioning before her circuit court confirmation. Do you realize that circuit courts have no authority to overrule SCOTUS? Meaning, for circuit court purposes, Roe *is* settled law. Her comment says absolutely nothing about how she'd rule if she were on the Supreme Court.
Actually, you'd need Thomas-like originalists; Scalia has some respect for precedent.
Posting will be light as I am conducting some pretaped interviews and collecting opinions by Judge Clement. I am cheered by her vote in the Cave Bug case and assured by those who know her record well that she is a solid conservative and not a Souter.
Hugh will be an excellent source of review as he's clearly tied in to the best legal minds in this country (including himself!)
Does anyone know how significantly the stroke affected her husband? I know from personal experience how even a mild stroke with an excellent recovery can bring hardship to a marriage. She sounds like a very capable and outstanding woman.
K-Lo is being a bit contrarian over at NRO. She's betting it's Janice Rogers Brown, not Clement.
However, based on recent experience, it will take MORE than one new vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. So, the whole edifice of bad decisions racked up by the pro-abortion crowd will not fall all at once, in one single decision. Instead, it will fall by degrees.
That's not the way you want it. But that's the way it will be.

The Republicans are going to lose more than the four million-plus they gained and then some if Bush breaks his word on this.
Sound good. I am most interested in what Levin says. Hope he calls in to Hannity today.
My brain.
If anyone at this site has as much knowledge as I do about judges and their different philosophies, I'd be surprised.

Weren't we assured that Souter was a solid conservative?
"I'll say it again, more slowly for you,
The "Roe is Settled Law" is one of the undignified shibboleths that conservative nominees must put up with in the name of duty.
No More, No less"
I'll say it more bluntly for you. I think that's hogwash and I'm ot eating it!
