On MSNBC a little while ago, they had a story about the "politics of the CIA leak". The reporter was interviewing Pat Buchanan and Democratic strategist Peter Fenn. What follows is the best transcript I could piece together quickly. I've quoted Fenn word for word.
PAT BUCHANAN: It's very, very serious...There is a credibility problem for the press secretary...There is no legal problem for Rove...Reporters in Washington have a gleam in their eye and smiles on their faces, and there's a reason for it...Pat Fitzgerald hasn't been digging for two years and judges haven't been sending reporters to jail because they don't have anything...Everyone in town (Washington) feels there is something very, very serious and today's story in the NY Times where a memo was floating around aboard Air Force One about Wilson's trip to Africa indicates this could be very big stuff.
ALEX: Peter, what kind of big stuff could Pat be referring to?
PETER FENN: Alex, this is not a third-rate burglary. The focus had been on White House staff. Now, as Pat says, with this memo from the State Department about Wilson, about his wife, about the connection, it was brought onto Air Force One by Secretary Powell. I cannot imagine, Alex, that if he's going up and down the aisles with that memo as he was supposed to have been, that he did not discuss it with the President of the United States. I cannot imagine that there were not phone calls from Ari Fleischer, the Press Secretary who was on board, back to the White House about this. This was precisely at the time when Wilson was about to publish his article. Folks knew about his position about weapons of mass destruction. I have a sense that this may go all the way to the top.
That's a good point. In point of fact, this may well be the cleanest administration that we have had in 50 years -- has there even been an indictment of any White House official for any reason since 2000?
'Legal analysts I've heard say this means (the judge?) he's not going to accept the plea deal because it's way too lenient.'
That's good because we want to see Sandy and all his cronies (Mark Rich??!!) going to the slammer....
Did you see this story?
The Dems NEVER stop it seems...
I think that they're investigating a criminal conspiracy to commit treason, or similar crimes, by hard left elements in the old media and the dim party, particularly clintonoid hold overs at CIA and State.
I'm hoping they end up declaring the Democrat party and CNNCBSNBCABC criminal organizations under the RICO statutes. I, personally, will get the class action suit together against Soros if we get such a ruling. ;^>

Elementary Propaganda 101. Link Bush's name with every scandal that they manufacture.
The best instance was the Enron scandal. Every manufactured headline contained the same two words:
BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON / BUSH / ENRON /
I dislike the word "never".....but I'd say the odds are in favor of that never happening. Too many people have rolled over for the Clinton's....
Too many people have assumed room temperature....after crossing paths with the Clinton's.
The Burglar is just another in a long line-up...
FWIW-
I agree. I see the delay as bad news for Berger, not as an effort to cover up lenient treatment. But it will likely end up with Berger getting jailed or forced to "roll over" for refusing to cooperate with the prosecutors as he agreed to do in return for the light sentence.
The guy ain't going to jail.
I'd bet my weird Uncle Toad's life on it....
"So now what are the pundits going to call this to try and cause it to 'set' in the minds of the public? 'Plamegate' doesn't really cut it because not enough nameless, faceless peasants know who she is....
" Even 'Rovegate' isn't truly effective. Maybe 'Bushgate'? All the way to the top! Yeah, that's the ticket! Just think of the increase in circulation and ratings they'll get with that one. Why, even CBS would be able to get back in the game!
The MSM and the Democrat Party both feed off each other like ventriloquists and their dummies (who knows which is which). And somehow they believe their relationship isn't exposed as an incestuous conspiracy?
Shouldn't the Bush Administration have made a HUGE legal example of CBS's Rathergate and the Dem machine being in cahoots to bring down the Presidency?
"Bushgate"?? In their wildest dreams, but they're trying like hell...
Yeah, that kind of vaudevilian baloney finally ought to provide MSNBC and CBS higher rating ratings and nevermind the flimsy hearsay it would be based upon -- just as long as any of their flung monkey dung sticks to the wall in America's psyche.
Naw....we don't agree.
I say Burglar get's a fine, and a suspended sentence/probation. Nothing more.
If I am wrong....I will be extremely extremely surprised.
They mean the focus of the special prosecutor, not the focus of the Dems and the Media. There has never been any reason to believe that the special prosecutor was out to accuse President Bush of a crime.

SANDY BERGER UPDATE: Unbillable Hours http://unbillablehours.typepad.com/unbillablehours/2005/07/united_states_v.html has looked at the documents and has some thoughts on why the sentencing was postponed.
What completely tees me off is how much those a-s in congress are being paid daily, with permanent health insurnace and wonderful retirement, unlike the rest of us, to spend their time blathering about crap that is untrue, in an effort to ruin the President.
Don;t they have any real work to do? We have a lot of problems and issues in this country that they need to be working on - like homeland security, SS, illegal immigration, the UN and it's relative uselessness, etcetcetc.
I thought they were being paid to do real work. What kind of garbage is this anyway? I think it's time some of us made this a major issue.
If I said the things about my boss as they do about the president, who they may or may not consider to be their boss, but who is the top representative of this wonderful country, I would be out on my ear. I wish the same rules applied to some of our congressmen.
Think I may have to go and barf.
There is absolutely NO WAY something will delay the confirmation hearings once the nomination is made.
You cannot possibly believe that ANY Republican would vote out impeachment on the president.
No way.
I remember liking Buchanan back in the late 80's reading his columns in the NY Post. There wasn't much else available back then. That was even before Rush. I liked Buchanan enough that I supported him against Bush Sr. in 1992.
That was then, this is now. Buchanan is nothing more than a MSM insider using the same tactics of misinformation to promote his cause.
But that tactic doesn't last very long. Pat has become a bit overused. Witness, our revulsion of him. So watch out for Tancredo. He's Pat's boy now. Both are hip-deep in MSM misinformation. Both will be used by the MSM to split conservatives.
Even Chaffee voted to support Rove in that vote the other day.
