Wilson just admitted about 45 minutes ago to Wolf Blitzer his wife was not undercover at the time of the Novak article and refused to state when the last time she was covert No link; transcripts to follow as soon as published.
OMG, I missed that; I'll bet you $50 that Wilson sent the editorial in a letter to 41..............LOL.
Oh, wouldn't THAT be sweet if we could find that out!
He could have clarified that at the time of the question but he didn't so we have to go by his words in the contents of the question.
I'm suprised a bolt a lightning didn't strike him down where he stood. He's not just a drama queen, he's a graduate of the Bill Shatner School for Overacting.
She was covert, but to break the law, she had to have been overseas in the previous 5 years, which she wasn't. Covert is just a status--there are plenty of desk jockeys who never go overseas or do clandestine work who have covert status.
LOL...I'll laugh, just harder. My money's been on Wilson as the original "outter" since the beginning of this one trick dog and pony show.
Heck, just check John Deutch's home computer. He probably has a complete list of who works at Langley.
Just re-read what he said in that light. He didn't come this far with everything he's done to casually admit she wasn't undercover on CNN. It's just his dramatic way of speaking.
Yes, we have to go by his words, not his intent. After all, isn't that what they're doing to Rove?
I suppose Wolfe Blitzer doesn't think that is a biased question?!
I also noticed tonight that Marc Pryor, (D)Arkansas said the same thing that President Bush said. Let's wait for the facts from the investigation. He obviously didn't think it wise to follow Joe Wilson and Chuck Schumer over the cliff. lol!
Neither Plame nor Wilson have been so far, but I still think one of them is the original "outter"
What people miss here is that the CIA has undercover folks, and they have public folks. The vast number of their team are public. I'm going to make a bet...that if anyone digs into this whole thing...the wife hasn't been a covert agent in a long, long time. And if that is the case, then the whole Wilson story goes down the drain. She was likely an analyst, who simply moved up the chain via her methods...and I didn't say that she used any special talents to get to her status in life.
That was David Rivkin, former Justice Dept. official who helped write the law.
Free Republic is like a school with many teachers who contribute many different ideas.
Well, you could do that.
Unfortunately, I think you've read what he said too literally. He was being dramatic in saying that his wife was no longer covert the second that Novak's article was published.
One of the VIPS folks revealed in an interview that she was a Career Trainee--all CTs are covert, regardless of the job. She could have been an analyst, worked at Langley every day, whatever. As a Career Trainee, her covert status goes with her.
clandestine; Kept or done in secret, often in order to conceal an illicit or improper purpose.
covert; Not openly practiced, avowed, engaged in, accumulated, or shown.
Undercover; Performed or occurring in secret.
The point of all this is, he said what he said and he meant what he meant. He could have said any of the 3 words and he would have meant the same thing, she was none of the 3.
