WASHINGTON, July 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Beginning this week, XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR - News), the nation's leading satellite radio provider with more than 4.4 million subscribers, is now the exclusive satellite radio home of Air America Radio, the national progressive entertainment talk radio network home to Al Franken, Randi Rhodes and Janeane Garofalo. In April, XM and Air America Radio announced a long-term partnership to make XM the exclusive satellite radio provider of Air America Radio programming.
As part of this new partnership, Air America Radio's on-air personalities, including Al Franken, will regularly take their progressive political talk on the road for special, live broadcasts in front of a studio audience from XM's Washington, D.C. studios. The first of these live XM studio shows will take place later this year.
"We are very grateful to XM for the belief they have shown in Air America Radio," said Air America Radio CEO Danny Goldberg. "Our association with XM Satellite Radio is a major step in bringing a truly national voice to tens of millions of Americans who are sick of relying on conservative or middle of the road media for their news and political opinion."
"Here at XM we pride ourselves on providing our listeners, whatever their political ideology, with a broad range of programming that reflects our nation's diverse social and political landscape," said XM Satellite Radio President and CEO Hugh Panero. "As the only satellite radio provider to offer Air America Radio programming, we are confident that XM is providing the best progressive talk available to our more than 4.4 million subscribers."
As part of the Air America Radio partnership, XM relaunched its liberal talk channel featuring a new channel name and expanded programming from its partner. Air America Radio (XM Channel 167), features an expanded line up of Air America programming, including the recently debuted "Springer on the Radio" hosted by Jerry Springer, "The Rachel Maddow Show," and "The Mike Malloy Show." These programs join XM's Air America Radio channel featuring progressive political talk. XM broadcasts encores and highlights from its weekday Air America Radio lineup on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, XM airs shows hosted by Robert Kennedy Jr., Laura Flanders, Steve Earle and others. A complete schedule for XM's Air America Radio is available online at http://www.xmradio.com

Well that should make both of their listeners feel just dandy.
"Progressive" LOL.
That's weird, since my local radio station just picked them up and is broadcasting them daily now. Infinity radio is the name of the company.
What was that about a tree that fell in the forest?
Hmmmmmmmm traveling road show means they can't make enough to pay the rent on a real studio of their own.......tick ....tick....tick.
Everyone should now flee to Sirius - they have better content, and giving money to XM means that you support GM, the unions, and the Dems.
My decision to back the Big Dog with my consumer dollar was a goone one! ;-)
Got XM Sat, but won't go near that spot on the dial. That's not "progressive" radio - it's cow dung on a stick......
Time to get Sirius!
evil capitalists....
how much did george soreass contribute to xm's coffers for this to happen?
Note to self: don't subscribe to XM.
Sorry to tell you this, but Sirius has had Air America for a while. They also have another leftie channel as well as a gay channel.
My Shower is Now Exclusive Home to My Singing
I had a rental car last week and Sirius carried errAmerica. I listened to franken the day after the London bombing and it was interesting. He spent 5 minutes blaming Bush for the bombing and then started talking about the reporter that went to jail...
