Ex-President Bill Clinton criticized Sen. John Kerry on Friday, saying he lost his presidential bid last year because he was soft on national security.
Addressing Colorado's Aspen Ideas Institute, Clinton dissected Kerry's campaign with event moderator Walter Isaacson.
According to the Aspen Times, Clinton "blamed the Democratic candidate's soft stand on security" for his defeat.
He recalled that while campaigning on behalf of the Massachusetts Democrat last October, "it was clear even Kerry's supporters weren't clear on the candidate's position on national security."
"I think, in the end, he lost in a close race because of the security issue," Clinton told Isaacson.
He also said Kerry didn't do enough to reach out to rural voters, who were likely to support Bush.
"You can't win an election in this country unless you talk to people who you think aren't for you," Clinton said. "A person who wants to be president has to be at home with issues and people when he knows he's on the losing side."
Clinton was accompanied to Aspen by his wife, 2008 presidential hopeful and Kerry rival Hillary Clinton. Sen. Clinton was scheduled to address the Aspen Ideas Institute Sunday afternoon.
Oh, please, Bill must be getting senile. Kerry's stance on national security was crystal clear throughout the campaign. He had his one big national security issue, and he made the most of it. He most definitely was AGAINST the Vietnam War. I don't know how anyone could have missed that, Kerry and his camp must have made that point practically every day during the campaign.
Bill is doing what he has to do to make up for 30 years of humiliating his wife. A nice shot over the bow of the USS Kerry.
Ah, so it begins.
The Kennedy/Kerry faction vs. the Clinton faction. This will be entertaining to observe.
This is not about dissing John Kerry, its all about positioning HRC as "tough on national security".
When it did occur, She Who Must Be Oyveyyed bitched about the air quality at Ground Zero--
We need a leader in the war on terror--not a Clinton.
"Newsflash: Hillary will appeal to those rural voters even less."
Well, you know, down in Arkansas, we have a saying...
Pray for W and Our Iraq Winning Troops
yup , and he is the "Talking DUmmie", while she is the Nodding Ventriloquist
So Klinton is saying that if Kerry had taken a public position ostensibly stronger on defense he would now be CIC. (The meaning of "was" was... .) Frightening.
It's a hell of a time for Bill to be telling us this after trying to get the idiot elected.
Could it be...nah.
"yes, we are seeing the gameplay for Hitlery, and it remains an obscene and disasterous idea to even think she could be a presidential candidate."
Yes, the gameplay for Hillery is what we are seeing. But its coffee smelling time. She is a candidate, and the prediction site gives her a 50% chance to win the Dem nom and a 25% chance to win the presidency. I think their calculation on the Dem nom is way too low---I think she already has it.
ROFLMAO Bump!
They're both traitors, Ethyl, don't look!
The alleged Senator from Massachusetts was very tough on National Security: America would have to pass a test...a "global" test.
Now, I don't know about you, BJ, but that doesn't sound soft at all. Passing global tests where the bar is stratospheric sounds pretty tough to me.
/end sarcasm...
Skis and Trees Tour.
He is just now figuring this out?, Next year Bill will tell us his wife is a bitch!
Clinton to Kerry:..."Well ya John.....their all boers and must be put into death camps"
"Its Gold/Diamonds and food/drink to the likes of us John"
"Geez John...your wife is a Zouth Afrikkan....how hard is this"
"No John...the Zulu's are not making a comeback"
I would have thought Hilary running for pres. a joke that nobody would take seriously. Shows how very far our country has fallen.
Gee, no kidding.
Knock me over with a feather.
