Through false stories such as Newsweek's account of U.S. personnel flushing a Koran down a toilet, our media have done a good job of recruiting more members for the hate-America terrorists. But they have done enormous damage to U.S. military recruiting in the global war on terror. Bill Maher of Time Warner's HBO epitomized this trend when he referred to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan as low-hanging fruit.
Popular radio host and author Michael Medved points to another ominous trend: the failure by Hollywood to celebrate the sacrifice and heroism of our troops fighting Islamic terrorism. He says it used to be the case that Hollywood films would glorify the American fighting man and express sympathy for the American cause. That was certainly the case in World War II. That was the "good war."
But that's not the case any more.
In 1987, Medved notes, Hollywood filmmaker Oliver Stone received an award from the ACLU and referred to the "Darth-Vadian Empire of the United States" that "must pay for its many sins in the future. I think America has to bleed. I think the corpses have to pile up. I think American boys have to die again. Let the mothers weep and mourn."
Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 depicted life under Saddam Hussein as carnivals and kite-flying for children. Moore wrote on his web site that he regarded Iraqi terrorists as the equivalent of America's revolutionary war heroes. His film depicts U.S. soldiers as brutal killers of the innocent.
Some might say that the Michael Moore approach is an aberration. Yet Medved notes that Hollywood is already out with a film, The Jacket, which begins by showing American troops committing atrocities during the first Persian Gulf War.

I pray to God that the talkers going to meet and hear the troops in Iraq soon bring back sufficient footage to make a movie or TV documentary.
Hollywood is liberal because it is subject to O'Sullivan's First Law. The denizens of Hollywood are subject to the flattery and derision of "objective" journalism - and, by and large, they lack the motive to resist it.
I was just thinking the other day about the end of WW II. The US Navy's option instead of dropping the A bombs was a blockade of Japan. They pressed hard for it, but didn't get it. Losses would have been high due to Kamnikazi planes and subs. Thanks to the way leftists carry on now, if there's ever a future similar decision, a blockade or anything similar wouldn't even be mentioned as an option. Their tantrums have taken it off the table.
Stone is really crazy. Deep down to the bone crazy.
Like I always say, "there's reality and then there's Hollywood." Pepsi has a commercial that shows a bunch of bored athletes watching some guy do his office job. That's the way Hollywood is. If they showed reality on CSI, Law and Order and ER, NOBODY WOULD WATCH THEM. People just need to figure out that TV and the movies are just entertainment and in NO WAY resemble reality.
The Jacket shows like 2 minutes of war footage, and it is primarily about Adrien Brody being shot. I'm sure there is a better example than this. Especially when on top of the slim amount of war footage is the fact that the movie made like 3 dollars at the theatre.
Yup.
America is tired of subsidizing the enemy wihtin.
Flicking through channels just now, I saw that MSNBC had a "Coming Home" episode about our returning military. Thinking it would be an uplifting and supportive piece, I hung around for 3 to 4 minutes when I realized it was going to portray them as damaged humans who we are afraid will shoot up our towns and beat their wives. This will not work this time, MSM. Do not try this.
Maybe it will alienate their last five viewers.
I think we should boycott Hollywood. The hell with them. They have no respect for America, Americans, or any aspect of the fight against terrorism. It simply makes no sense to support these people.
This is going to be a long and costly war with Islam, and if we are to be victorious, we will at some point have to deal with our enemies within.
Support the troops just doesn't cut it. We need to see and hear the stories of heroism. leadership, and valor. When they do a PR push, it is all old men from the Pentagon. Show us the boys, and see the support soar.
Indeed. I am related to some of the enemies within. Very unfortunate.
I agree 100% !!! Otherwise this country is going to suffer a slow death, because our enemies, both foreign and domestic, will never stop. Better to just draw a line and get it on.
And we do, and we will. It will not be allowed to happen again. They are the best among us, and we will let them know that we know it.
