If Bush Doesn't Nominate A True Conservative, I'm Voting For Hilary For Presiden
Self | July 2, 2005 | JohnRobertson

Posted on 07/02/2005 7:53:49 PM PDT by John Robertson

I just realized...I mean that.

It's going to come down to this.

I have often argued, as many here have, that when FReepers said they would sit home rather than vote for (McCain, usually, sometimes Guiliani), that such sitting out would put Hilary in the Whitehouse.

But I'm not moving on this.

How true. Some people are never content unless thay have something to bitch about, I guess, and it's even better if they can do the little Church Lady Superiority Dance at he same time.

...I am willing to endure 4 years of a Democrat in office, if thats what it takes to remind the Republicans who put them where they are and how willing I am to take it away if they don't tow the line.

Goodness gracious; how utterly ridiculous.

Did you have your head up your butt from 1992 to 2000?

This is totally amazing what I am reading on here tonight and what I read yesterday. I am inclined to think this hit and run poster of this vanity and others are not conservatives and they are certainly not Conservative Republicans.

No way is President Bush going to name anyone but a conservative constructionist to SCOTUS -- he has said all along he wants justices that rule on the law not make it up as they go along. There has been no judge nominated by this President that would make anyone that reads think he has changed at all in his wanting strict constitutionalists on the Courts. He doesn't like activists judges and neither do most of us that really are Conservative Republicans.

I agree with you that some on this thread and on this forum since O'Connor announced her retirement are hoping he nominates a moderate so they can have a good reason to post why they are leaving the Republican Party which they were never part of to begin with. Some of these people sound like RATs to me. How many Conservative Republicans do you know that would even say the words they would Hillary if Pres Bush doesn't appoint a conservative justice? I don't know one that would vote for the *itch under any circumstance or say we need taught a lesson by having a RAT in the WH for four years.

The comments on this thread are amazing -- didn't even know folks like this existed.

You got it and why I have been laughing so hard at some of these comments -- they are so obvious and the more we say the dumber their posts get.

Notice how the author of this thread hasn't commented. Just because someone has an old sign up date means nothing -- some signed up here after 2000 and just lie around coming up for air ever so often to post.

I have decided to take the tact of make their comments into humor instead of getting upset. Does more good IMO!

Instead of having a cow, why not just wait to see who the President nominates? Why get yourself in such a state with your over-active imagination?

I think it was the Navy Officer with the thick eyebrows. Who ever it was, implied that Mc Cain got preferential treatment.

What was his name?

Sadly, it's not just tonight. FR has always had a small, bout way out of proportion, to its numbers, an overtly vocal lunatic fringe element. They were NEVER as happy, as they were during the 8 long, weary, horrible Clinton years. They wallow in misery, enjoying it immensely.

These are the people who don't see a glass as 1/2 full or 1/2 empty; no...........THEY SEE NO GLASS AT ALL! It's their way, or forget about it, down to the tiniest detail. None of them ever grew out of the terrible two stage of life.

Notice how they're all bellyaching and the president hasn't even mentioned a single name yet?

This president made judicial nominations, who were STRICT CONTRUCTIONISTS, the very center of his election campaigns TWO TIMES! One really has to wonder what the perpetual whingers heard instead.

Ed Koch once said that if you agree with him on 9 of 12 issue, vote for him; 12 of 12, see a psychiatist.

We have geniuses on here tonight that if a Republican President is 9 for 12 then they will vote for someone who is 0 for 12. All of us at some point in our lives thought throwing a temper tantrum would get us what we want; most of us realize after the age of 4 (except for teenage girls like my daughter sometimes) that screaming for your Maypo isn't very effective.

Oh yeah, sure, I'm a "country club Republican". Would you care to tell me else what I am, pet, without knowing me at all? Is that you, MISS CLEO?

I was a CONSERVATIVE before you could spell the word.

You're the one who is arrogant and for no reason. But then, your type usually is both arrogant and spiteful.

I'm personally a bit tired of the threats against this President.

Since when has he given conservatives reason to doubt him on Judicial nominations? The failure isn't with Bush. It's with people that refuse to believe he is who he is. With people that seem to prefer he screw up this nomination than take comfort in the belief his principle has aligned with ours on this issue throughout his presidency.

IF anyone wants to make a threat, which is only good if you back it up with more than rhetoric, make it against the RINO's in the U.S. Senate. Their record does not give reason for comfort.

Got news for you -- folks at DU didn't teach much! Country Club Republicans -- haven't heard that term in a long time. Guess Conservatives don't belong to Country Clubs -- please don't tell that to folks I know because they will not understand here in Oklahoma. You do know that Republicans like to play golf and if you take all the conservatives out of Country Clubs here in Oklahoma, they would go broke.

Anyone that says Republicans and RATs are alike doesn't have a clue and if that shoe fits, wear it. Withi statements I have seen you make right out of the RAT talking point papers -- doubt you are even a conservative. You obviously haven't heard Dr. Tom Coburn speak who is as conservative and Republican as you can get. None of the Conservatives I know that worked the Coburn campaign are mad at Republicans -- mad at RATs and Dean and our RAT Governor/Senate -- darn right we are.

If you vote for Hillary, you are not a true conservative. Go ahead, give up your principles.

Should we all here then maybe abandon a sinking ship: "FreeRepublic"???

Sleeper Trolls.

Excellent strategery and is also the preferred method of dealing with the 'Rats. Lord knows making the 'Rats look like fools these days is like taking candy from a baby -- look what Karl Rove did to them (boy did the attacks on Rove stop fast once the morons figured out he Jedi mind-tricked them!)

It's great being on the Right these days. The Seventies with the 'Rats in charge of Congress and then Carter; The Eighties with the 'Rat House; the Nineties w/ Bubba; 2001-2 with Jumping Jim Jeffords stealing our majority. We're sitting better than since before FDR, thanks mostly to GWB, and these morons still complain? Whatever.

No president, no matter who, is perfect. No politician, no matter from which party ( and that includes the silly fringers ), is going to do 100% of everything everyone who voted for him/her yearns for them to do.

Sadly, all of us are fallible and none of us exists in a vacuum.

No matter which president, except George Washington, whatever was done by the previous president and maybe even three,has/ have a direct influence and bearing on one or both terms of the present one and sometimes beyond that.

Yeah, he signed up 4 years ago to troll in 2005.

Don't underestimate trolls. Some trolls act like paid professionals. And yeah, lots of them signed up around the time Hillary mentioned the impact the Internet was having. And more since.
