I just realized...I mean that.
It's going to come down to this.
I have often argued, as many here have, that when FReepers said they would sit home rather than vote for (McCain, usually, sometimes Guiliani), that such sitting out would put Hilary in the Whitehouse.
But I'm not moving on this.
Exactly! Feel like I am back in 2000 defending Pres Bush against the naysayers declaring they wouldn't vote for him if he chose someone pro-abortion. I finally wrote a long editorial on the reasons why he would pick a pro-life VP. Frustrating isn't it?
Is this your idea of an opus?
You are a fool if you're being serious and sober with this post. But on the bright side I'd hope the chains don't chafe too much for you to bear under your new collectivist ideas.
whats the deal with your image and funlol?
The Dems are more irrelevant every day. The ONLY reason they have any traction at all is 1> the media propping up their corpse, and 2> RINOS in the Senate propping up their corpse.
Beyond that, they are impotent and irrelevant. The Gop has drifted to the left. They have spent us into the dirt and pooped all over the Constitution. Not as bad as the Dems, but not as good as a conservative party.
I'm close to being over it. The transition from a Dem/Rep choice to a Rep/conservative choice has started. Get with the times.
Quite frankly, I'm getting disgusted with this "I'm more conservative than thou" line of bovine scattology.
Let's make something perfectly and abundantly clear: if you're upset that Bush doesn't bandy the fiscal conservatism you would like to see, if he realizes that sometimes it better to take what he can than to fight a losing battle, then go ahead and pull the lever for someone else.
Unfortunately, this is the political enviornment that he has to operate in for the present. It might be different for another president in the future, but for now, this is what we got. We have to work with what we have.
Some of us are in grave danger of pushing so far to the right that we're in danger of wrapping around --- we're digging in our heels and screeching like panty-bunched leftists! We're engaging in the same kind of tactics and rhetoric that the other side does. Tactics and rhetoric we all claim to find distasteful.
You have become that which you hate. I'd seek psychiatric help.
I fear that this our republic's last chance for this to happen. The whole "checks and balances" facade has failed. We now have an unassailable judicial oligarchy that is accountable to no one. Congress was intended to be the dominant branch of government, but they have failed in this responsibility and our now completely subservient to the new "upper house" of the supreme court. Only the executive branch can save us from this growing tyranny, and only this president make this hope a reality. I recruited hundreds of other volunteers for this President's reelection, and all of them sacrificed their time and resources based on this particular promise from the President. We all gave him this opportunity, and we all deserve for him to seize it. I am hopeful that the President will follow through based on my understanding of his personal integrity and his track record of other judicial nominees. I am also fearful, however, because of the politically unthinkable consequences if he fails.
I don't think you heard his condition. He said, IF another liberal judge is appointed (remember: moderate = liberal; liberal = communist)
I agree that it would be a true betrayal, IF after all these years of supporting the Republicans just so we can get to this point when we have a chance to take back the supreme court THAT we end up getting same-old, same-old.
So he has to sacrifice a "true" conservative that will never in a million years get confirmed to keep your vote?! What about the second nomineee? Is he allowed to EVER put forth somebody that can make it all the way through the process, or are we just shaving one seat off the Supreme Court to satisfy you?
Two things to keep in mind:
Politics is the art of compromise, there will ALWAYS be some compromise in these things
Most Supreme Court Justices don't stay as far to either side as they seemed before being nominated, something about the robes changes people
Who's your couch doctor?
Yeah, it's positively brilliant! I'm sure our armed forces will be thrilled having her as C-in-C! Then again, you are voting for the Con Party anyway, so your vote is completely irrelevent.
All I will say on the topic is that I am willing to endure 4 years of a Democrat in office, if thats what it takes to remind the Republicans who put them where they are and how willing I am to take it away if they don't tow the line.
God. Who is yours?
Got me ???
Unbelieveable is right.
Waaah! Waaahhh!
I asked the waiter for a Coke and he brought me a Sprite.
I guess I'll go drink some Draino because I'm so disappointed.
Hillary? YIKES! Get a grip!
I've heard that before, but what does it mean?
Natan Sharansky according to his book was well fed for a few months prior to being released as well, trying to hide the mistreatment that he experienced.
Good post. In '96 I went through a great deal of trouble to vote for Bob Dole, whom everyone pretty much knew was going to get his clock cleaned by Billy Jeff. I could have stayed home that night.
I never particularly cared for Dole - not my cup of tea - Nearly ten years down the road I'm glad that I made the effort. My guy still lost, but I exercised a right that others have sacrificed a great deal for,...including Senator Dole. In retrospect, I am proud to have at least voted for a true war hero.
Zell is still a registered Dem. He campaigned for President Bush in '04, but before that, he was GUNG HO for the Clinton and went to bat for him, over and over and over again. And he did NOT go off to some fringe party.
The facts is, that neither the Libertarian nor Constitution parties are ever going to gain any respectability or power; not ever! All they do is draw a bunch of KOOKS and when enough political naifs go off to vote for them, what happens is that the damned Dem wins. It's as simple as that. So being a DOG IN THE MANGER/ CUT OF YOUR NOSE TO SPITE YOUR FACE kind of person, neither holds up your supposed "principles", nor does it teach the GOP or XXX a lesson at all.
Maybe, when you manage to finally, if you ever do, grow up politically, you'll begin to understand what's what and stop thinking like some bratty kid, with a case to the terrible twos.
Unknown.
Bears repeating.
