Justice O'Connor is retiring. Speculation on her replacement began long ago.
engineers yes, accountants no.
Well then, let's give them what they want. "Associate Justice Ann Coulter" has a nice ring to it.
"Nominate Teddy Kennedy, force him through a grueling nomination process where his entire life is put under the microscope, let the 'pubbies filibuster sending the nomination for a full vote then have "W" withdraw the nomination."
Never ever underestimate the republicans in the Senator to screw things up. Remember, it's a country club atmosphere and ya' never harm your buddies. Kennedy would be confirmed with the assistance of the pubbies in a heartbeat.
Great post...Thanks.
Janice Rogers Brown is being mentioned a lot by commentators now. She is very interesting...Check out this speech she made on the failure of socialist utopian philosophies.

both would be dream justice.
Is this the dream team thread?
I nominate Ben Stein!
In addition to being an actor, TV personality, and a pretty good writer, he taught law at Pepperdine, and if memory serves is an economist to boot. When you look up "rennaisance man" in the dictionary it says "see Stein, Ben".
Ben Stein has a law degree.
What you are describing there is a bureaucrat, not an engineer. An engineer is someone who designs elaborate but clever solutions to a problem within specified fiscal constraints.
I'm a civil engineer by trade, and I can solve just about any problem you put in front of me in my area of expertise. It's not that hard, really. The VERY hard part of it is solving the problem in a practical, effective manner.
It's interesting that you should mention a dam, though. When you design a dam, you can't fake anything. It's either going to function properly, or it's not -- and that's exactly the kind of refreshing approach we could use in law. Nobody in his right mind is going to design a dam that falls apart within 6 months, and cite "international law" as an excuse to override well-grounded engineering principles in the design of a dam.
I nonminate Ann Coulter.
John / Billybob
LOL! How many years has it been now?
As long as it's not La Raza Gonzales. Maybe we're cool on him since he is sitting AG.
You've got that right. We do NOT want him on the SC, he's too liberal. I don't even want him as AG.
ooooh... that's mean. I like it.
I like it. Coulter, Stein, Levin, Ingraham, all lawyers who get it and aren't afraid of anything.
"Ben Stein has a law degree"
Oh well, he'd make a great Justice, anyway.
I'll second Mark Levin
I double dog dare the dems to diss her.
Ingraham would be good too, after all it a women seat that is being filled, but until Laura recovers from her illness I am thinking Ann, but Mark would be great, he about the smartest guy I had ever listen too.
"It will be a woman, the libs will force it. A woman for a woman."
I think it will have to either be a woman or a Latino.
I can see that this process is going to long and hard. So with wanting to bring unity to the country I will step up to the plate. Sure I'm not a lawyer but I have read the Constitution which is more that most of the current class of clowns have done.
OK. Then Janice Rogers Brown it is!
