Last week, I reported on the Supreme Court's Kelo vs City of New London decision, which seriously weakened Constitutionally guaranteed private property rights.
Now, in what can only be viewed as an attempt at pure poetic justice, a budding developer, businessman Logan Darrow Clements, has begun the process of seizing Supreme Court Justice David Souter's homestead in Weare, New Hampshire and replacing it with a hotel.
Citing the Kelo decision, Clements has contacted Weare's building official, saying:
"Although this property is owned by an individual, David H. Souter, a recent Supreme Court decision, "Kelo vs. City of New London" clears the way for this land to be taken by the Government of Weare through eminent domain and given to my LLC for the purposes of building a hotel. The justification for such an eminent domain action is that our hotel will better serve the public interest as it will bring in economic development and higher tax revenue to Weare."
Think the Fab Five ever considered that the Kelo ruling might directly threaten their property rights?
As I've said before, when our Constitution is ignored, all Americans suffer the consequences.
Clements is currently seeking investors to fund the project. He can be reached by clicking here. Encourage him to develop similar plans for properties owned by Supreme Court Justices Breyer, Ginsburg, Kennedy and Stevens.
On the other hand, the Second Amendment is #2, not #5, and may well be considered to be MORE IMPORTANT in any conflict.
Scalia should probably not hang around Ginsburg anymore. She has made tens of millions of real enemies, destroyed the US Constitution, and offended God.
Actually, that's an excellent idea. Certainly Souter has some favorite lovers, or folks he prefers for those "oh, so quick" meetings in the men's room of the gay bars in DC and Alexandria ~ should be mere child's play to find out who some of them are, and to target them.
Again, Justices are not required to recuse themselves from anything.
In fact, about 20 years ago a fellow posted an advertisement to sell some custom made bricks left over from a construction job here in the DC area.
These bricks had been made to face Robert Strange MacNamara's new home.
I bought them for less than 2 cents apiece ~ the guy who had them was ashamed to keep them.
For many years several of them served as a convenient target for Viet Nam Veteran rage. Literally tons of urine filtered through these fine bricks, and they are imbued with the true sentiments, and scents, of America's heros.
I even sent one to Australia to a Viet Nam Vet who had served in the Nam in their military. Although he and I share absolutely none of the same political beliefs, he assured me that platoons, even whole companies, of vets dealt with that brick in a right proper manner (down at the VA hospital I think).
The same can be done with Souter's home long before it is demolished and burned. Or, maybe even afterwards ~ whenever.
Some politicians deserve this treatment.
In any case, it should be legally ruinously expensive for Souter.
good...
It won't be.
BTW, folks are angry enough to finance a reconfiguration of NH law so that Souter can be run out of his home.
"If any one bring an accusation against a man, and the accused go to the river and leap into the river, if he sink in the river his accuser shall take possession of his house.
But if the river prove that the accused is not guilty, and he escape unhurt, then he who had brought the accusation shall be put to death, while he who leaped into the river shall take possession of the house that had belonged to his accuser.
http://www.wsu.edu/~dee/MESO/CODE.HTM provides us with the full code. For what it's worth, it looks like Souter and company are working their way through the Code of Hammurabi and reversing all of its standards ~ which is pretty egregious since this code was one of the earliest efforts of a society that invented civilization, writing, and the keeping of records.
I hope this works. He deserves what he gets.
I'm in for $100. Maybe Freerepublic should do a drive!
Maybe we should get together and form our own LLC. If we can raise $75K, we're in!
It's hard to believe that we have a Supreme Court that says that we should now have as a law of the land something considered to be a capital crime at the very foundations of civilization.
I second that.
I would like to see this fly and I think the best way is for Freestar to seek investors. This way, investors have a modicum of security with regards to their investment.
"yuh got $1,500.00? I'll keep it right here in my shirt pocket."
The amendment already exists, besides, WAY too many people will lose their homes and businesses before that idea would ever get off the ground.
Fight fire with fire.
My problem with your idea for an ammendment is that there already is one, and it wasn't followed. Plus, even if it would work, an ammendment would take a LONG time and a lot of damage will be done to the citizens in the meantime.
I don't have an issue with doing that as a parallel course of action, I just think we need to strike harder and faster.
