Media not keeping Americans informed

. As we sit and watch American Idol, and get breaking developments in the Michael Jackson trial, one has to wonder where’s the news? The media in this country was just ranked 29th in the world on the amount of information it broadcast to its citizens. They are countries with 10 percent of our population that are better informed on world events than we are. No big deal you say. Well the problem with that is the rest of the planet thinks we are an imperial power using are armed forces to secure natural resources from other nations. The Frank Lutz talking points didn’t play that well outside our borders. Sen. Norm Coleman found that out the hard way when he made the mistake calling George Galloway (Member of Parliament in the U.K.) to testify before a Senate subcommittee on his involvement in the oil for food scandal. Funny thing happened to his testimony; 24 hours after it was posted it disappeared from the Senate Web site. . London Times ran two stories, the Downing Street memo, and reports that RAF and American aircraft were bombing targets six months prior to the declared war on WMDs in Iraq. In the Downing Street memo Jack Straw was letting Tony Blair know that America was going to make up a storyline to justify invading Iraq. I can’t believe that Brit Hume didn’t lead with this on Fox News. .

We're getting Fox News segments on Armed Forces Network here in Iraq, and I have to say that compared to a couple years ago, it is crap.

Not as bad as CNN, but still crap.

Iraq was being bombed by Coalition planes since Saddam started breaking the terms of the Gulf War I cease fire. And it wasn't a "war on WMDs" it was regime change for Saddam's failure to live up to that cease fire and 17 UNSC resolutions thereafter. Buh-bye.

Those "World Events" they are being "informed" about are %78 to %100 one sided and distorted by their Government controlled media, or their Government owned media.

We were bombing anti-aircraft installations far in advance of the War in Iraq. Just so happens the Iraqi's were firing at coalition aircraft, so we bombed them
