GEORGE BUSH MAY GO DOWN AS THE WORST PREZ IN HISTORY
or
WHY IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

President George Bush has not distinguished himself by fighting for his judicial nominees. Indeed, the way he treated Miguel Estrada, he is arguably worse than the Democrats in the Senate.

Now seven Senators have made a deal to run the Senate, and they claim that it would be best for the President to get in his Presidential Yugo and drive down to the Senate Building carrying his hat in his hand to get his judicial nominees pre-approved.

If President George Bush accedes to this power grab, he will go down as the worst President in history.

The United States Senate gave up its legislative power to the federal courts; now the Senate proposes to usurp Presidential powers. Where is our Constitutional Republic in all this?

Previous Presidents have called Senators over to the White House and 'jawboned' them with political goodies to get them to support their agenda. George Bush, instead, called Ted Kennedy over to the White House and allowed him to write the Education Bill. Kennedy responded by saying that Bush had woefully underfunded education, and iced it by calling the President a murderer and a war criminal. Bush does not jawbone Olympia Snowe or Lincoln Chaffee; instead, he closes military bases in Trent Lott's Senatorial District.

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A REPUBLICAN TODAY

It is impossible to be a Republican today because as a voter you send representatives to Washington who BETRAY you repeatedly. Even when the majority of the country votes for Republicans and traditional values, 'Republicans' tell us that it is important to let the minority rule the country, and traditional values are trashed.

I AM NOT A REPUBLICAN

Well, I used to be a Republican. I have been betrayed so many times I have lost count. The Republican Party of Florida re-districted me out of the Congressional District in West Orlando [where I live] and placed me in WEST JACKSONVILLE - nearly 100 miles away. There are three Congressional Districts in West Orlando, but I am assigned to West Jacksonville... a district so gerrymandered that some portions are only as wide as the center line in the middle of the highway.

There is no good reason for me to be a Republican; there is no good reason for me to vote any longer. All my votes, all my campaigning for traditional values, all my fighting against the Democratic oligarchy siezing power in this country has resulted in my own people disenfranchising me by gerrymandering me out of representation in Washington [Well, true, I have Bill Nelson... I remember Bill Nelson: about 1983 he said on local radio that Christians should not be allowed to vote since they are incapable of thinking for themselves, that they must be told how to think.]

Yep - that is what all my voting for 40 years has netted me.

If I voted for Joseph Stalin, at least I would get exactly what I expected. At least if the Democraps win, we know they will finalize the overthrow of the Constitution and set up their socialist tyrannical dictatorship. If that does not motivate Americans to do what is necessary to re-establish freedom, then what have I been fighting for anyway?

They are the ones who keep saying they don't mind paying a bit more in taxes...

The 'well, if your not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about' folks are my favorites.

I'm not agreeing with him. I'm just saying he isn't some troll and the ZOT monkeys need to chatter at someone else.

Agreed. There may have been a bit of an overreaction to Mr. Ireland's post.

There are more than enough bona fide trolls for us to zot.

>>Where is our Constitutional Republic in all this?<<

Bob,

A lot of FReepers are having a hard time these days accepting that the President is selling us out with the CAFTA treaty and his disgusting enthusiasim about protecting our borders. It is so much easier to look for the good things that are happening than discussing the bad ones.

Don't worry, they'll come around the day before the Constitution gets burned on the front steps of the White House. That's when we'll hear some great arguments about why the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were never actually needed and why the UN Charter is so much better.

"What is a PATRIOT?"
PATRIOTS are not "Revolutionaries" trying to overthrow the government of the United States.

PATRIOTS are "Counter-Revolutionaries" trying to prevent the government of the United States from overthrowing the Constitution of the United States. - Unknown Author

I find it laughable that just two days after the "GREAT REPUBLICAN CAVE-IN" that so many are so eager to blindly pull this "don't attack the Republicans" stuff.

Bush is NOT the "worse" but Bush has some "worst" black marks to his history, such as fiscal social waste spending.

If FR members want to make progress, they need to start showing some fight in you when it comes to exposing Republican'ts for their cave-ins, their stupid moves like lack of border control and fiscal lunacy.

If you don't agree with Bob, fine, show some examples but be adult like. But just brushing off this thread makes those who do act no different than the gang of seven who folded and caved-in to the RATs on the filibuster. There is much to be critical of re Republican'ts lack of spine.

My humble opinion is this blind protectionism of all things Republican every time a critical thread against Republican'ts is started is childish. After the filibuster abdication to KKK Byrd and others, I would think those memebers would be a little more cautious in their "blind allegiance to the RNC".

Why do you refer to Mr.Bush as W? Are you a personal friend of his or something? I notice whenever any criticism is directed at this administration some act like lifelong friends of the president implying that he has some secret plan. If he doe's he better get with it because time is running out. He will soon be a lame duck if he continues to allow the inmates to run the asylum.

After the filibuster abdication to KKK Byrd and others . . .

And yet in a bizarre turn of events, "Sheets" Byrd voted in favor of Priscilla Owens' confirmation today!

Not only that, but the dependability of the "my party, right or stupid" faction grants license to this kind of routine betrayal.

***The worst prez in history" is so far over the top, that's it's hard to take seriously a mentality that would embrace that level of hyperbole to express frustration***

Mark my word: if Bush gives up the power to make his own judicial nominees, and goes to Capitol Hill for pre-approval, History will excoriate him... It is the end of 'Separation of Powers'... and the Republic WILL NOT STAND.

Hi. Bob...;
Needed to be said... often and loudly..
Any that think the republican party is not standing on ground that democrats stood on ten or twenty years ago has been in a coma.. or are new republicans and are ignorant..

The democrat party twenty years ago was still a socialist pit.. they have gotten worse and the republican party has become just like them.. I would say like ten years ago, myself..

You are correct.. Two democrat partys.. Both partys are a LIE.. The democrat party is really the/a socialist party and the republican party has become the democrat party.. of yester-year.. To be exact, there "IS" no visible republican party at all.. Its caput..

The voters of both partys are in extreme denial.. even here on Free Republic.. This Free Republic is in extreme jeopardy.. and has long since morphed into a democracy.. The only thing vaguely Republican about America is having a vestigal republican party.. that is no republican party AT ALL..

Good screed Bob.. lay it on.. Maybe some will come out of their coma.. Its the rare republican that will not get all warm and fuzzy after receiving a government CHECK..

Six or seven years from now...I'll check in on this. I do not believe you can judge ANY president before they are no longer president.

Sometimes, the things that seem the smartest at the moment are not—and the things that seem downright stupid at the time appear pretty prescient. Emotions are for now, but consequences are forever.

That being said...not very many people have been proved brilliant by misunderestimating GW. The man is almost unbelievably patient. (Obviously more patient than most of us) And he works harder than it looks. I would never bet against him at this point.

Oh...and he has an uncanny knack for being very polite—but I'm not sure I would necessarily describe him as nice.

A lot of folks actually like wearing their blinders, they have become too comfortable not being able to see the ugly side of reality.
