I have downloaded Thunderbird. When I try to get mail it asks for my password Since TB did not ask for a password when setting up I use my paasword with my ISP to no avail. Can anybody help.
:-)
In that case, I'd suggest either carefully comparing your account settings in both clients, or seeing if Thunderbird will import the internet account (.iaf) files that Outlook Express can export. I'm just guessing at this last, but it might work.
Yep, I'd never use Outlook on my home 'puter.
I can send mail fromTB but not recieve it.
I downloaded a fith of Thunderbird last week. Talk about a headache. Night Train Express from now on!
I drank night train once when I was a teen. I had THE WORST hangover I ever had. I still remember how corrupt my body felt that morning. Pure garbage for wineos
Just kidding. I remember the label for NTE. A speeding locomotive screaming toward the imbiber. I think I felt like I'd been hit by that train!

Don't you suppose that he already has a Wind-OOOs machine which contains the woefully insecure browser known as IE and the porous email client known as Outlook Express. And, knowing this, don't you suppose that he is trying to FLEE from this stellar example of Microsoft's 'secure computing initiative'....
Just a thought...
Beyond comparing the settings between OE and Thunderbird, and following the advice in posts # 14, 15, & 16, I don't know what else to suggest. Sorry.
Thanks for all your help I will let you know when this is fixed.
For Incoming Mail, Go to: Tools. Click on it, go down to Account Settings. Click on it
Then under your email address, you will find: Server Settings. Click on it:
Then set your, Server Name: mail.ISP.xxx or: pop.ISP.xxx
Then set your, User Name: whatever it is
Review the other settings on that dialog. Click OK
Hope this helps...
You might be able to call Adelphia support. They might be able to walk you through setting up Thunderbird to work with their system. (I don't recommend drinking the Thunderbird though, as some have implied!)
Another source of Thunderbird help is the FAQ. You might want to look through the stuff here: Thunderbird FAQ.
If you poked a couple of different passwords into the thing, you probably have the wrong info saved. You might have to delete the stored password and then enter the corrrect one. See the section in the FAQ that's titled "I changed my IMAP password, how do I get rid of a cached password?"
Hope you get it working. I didn't have any problems once I got the correct password into the thing!
I did fix the problem. I deleted the account and set it up again.
Who drinks the mostest?
Yep... That works!
Yeah, I was thinking, "Well, try the TJ Swan's, then..."
