It's raining, so here's some hang gliding haiku:
Ode to a cloud
The cloud beckons me
With promise of mighty lift
It tugs my soul
Pretty flat green fields
I do not belong there yet
The warm currents rise
The vario sings
I Know only this moment
The sky rewards me
The ground falls away
The clouds carry me with them
The miles pass like dreams
Wispy streams of white
I have lingered here too long
Time to bid farewell
And of course
Ode to a slightly bigger cloud
The cloud tractors me
With uncontrollable lift
It twangs my sidewires
Pretty flat green fields
I wish I was there right now
The air grows colder
The vario screams
The black death bowl engulfs me
I'm in deep **** now
The ground dissapears
My GPS will guide me
White stones strike my face
White gives way to sky
I have escaped with my life
Let's do it again

I just taught them to my 4th grade class. For Arbor Day, we went outside, drew a picture and wrote a haiku about a tree. Kids came up with some classics.
