CHICAGO (CNS) -- Before the cardinals locked into the Sistine Chapel had a chance to cast their first ballot April 18, a group protesting the lack of women's voices in the conclave gathered outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago to send up billows of bright pink smoke along with prayers for women to be heard. The event featured statements from several organizations supporting the ordination of women that called on the church to open its doors fully to women's participation. "At a time when young women are sold into slavery around the world, when war brings the rape of women, when it is women and children who suffer in poverty on earth and organized religions keep women in bondage celebrating the language of a male God, we know we cannot keep the silence demanded by male leadership in a church that claims to speak out for human rights," said Dominican Sister Donna Quinn, a member of the National Coalition of American Nuns.
Hmmm.... maybe a special pope for the western democracies should be announced: a black-african lesbian nun who runs an abortion clinic in south america.
BWAHAHAHA! Good one, Laz. I have to go get my pie out of the oven now, or I'd sing your praises some more.
LOL
I love you.
I just KNEW this had to be from Scrappleface, until I read the byline.
She likely entered the convent back in the early 60's, before the age of Feminism. Unfortunately, she is of the generation that embraced the heady idea of women power, and were convinced that the priests and bishops were only about keeping women down, and that women have remarkable powers if only they were allowed to run things. There were tons of 'retreats' and 'conferences' for religious women held in the 80's that sought to turn these well educated women who actually DID have positions of power, into shills for the feminist movement. These gatherings were designed to try to change the Church from within by changing the women who did a lot of the work educating young people.
Fortunately, for us, younger women who were beginning to hear a call to religious life, saw these communities and the changes in them, and rejected them. Most of the older established communities of religious women are graying. The communities that are growing are the ones that rejected the feminism that ruined the older ones, and are faithful to the teachings of the Church. The Dominican Sister of Hawthorne are one of these groups, the Sisters of Charity, begun by Mother Theresa is another. The late Cardinal O'Connor established an order of religious women dedicated to the Gospel of Life, on the same idea as the new Priestly Society of the Gospel of Life.
You like that, you'll love this...I'm baking brownies this afternoon...after I'm done folding laundry and mopping the floors.
BWHAHAHA! *kisses*
(It's all true, btw. That's my job)
Marry me.
"The National Coalition of American Nuns is suprised and deeply disturbed that the Vatican's Congregation for thr Doctrine of the Faith has used the claim of infallibility to support and perpetuate the injustice of the Church's teaching which excludes women from the ordained priesthood.
The National Coalition of American Nuns holds that this teaching cannot be infallible because the teaching is unjust and, therefore, in error. The Church may not employ gender to limit the call of the Holy Spirit to minister in a priestly fashion."
This Teaching Cannot Be Infallible
Is Sister a blonde?

Generally, people who have these behavior disorder are put on the "ignore" list by genuine Catholics.
Some of these behaviorally-challenged folks are FReepers, however. Then they get response--exactly what they asked for.
