CHICAGO (CNS) -- Before the cardinals locked into the Sistine Chapel had a chance to cast their first ballot April 18, a group protesting the lack of women's voices in the conclave gathered outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago to send up billows of bright pink smoke along with prayers for women to be heard. The event featured statements from several organizations supporting the ordination of women that called on the church to open its doors fully to women's participation. "At a time when young women are sold into slavery around the world, when war brings the rape of women, when it is women and children who suffer in poverty on earth and organized religions keep women in bondage celebrating the language of a male God, we know we cannot keep the silence demanded by male leadership in a church that claims to speak out for human rights," said Dominican Sister Donna Quinn, a member of the National Coalition of American Nuns.
I am not a Roman Catholic. Would someone please explain to me how this woman can be a nun and not follow the teachings of the Church. She supports abortion, birth control, women priests, homosexuality, etc. This is a nun??? Same with priests. Thanks!
Probably not very relevant here... if history is any indication, 'Sister' Donna and her cohorts are well beyond the baby making stage of life. :-)
You uppity women I dont understand
Why you gotta go and try to act like a man,
But before you make your weekly visit to the shrink
Youd better occupy the kitchen, liberate the sink.
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed
Thats what I to my baby said,
Womens liberation is a-going to your head,
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed.
Early every morning youre out on the street
Passing out pamphlets to everyone you meet.
You gave up your maiden form for lent
And now the front of your dress has an air scoop vent.
Every single brakeman thats ever come along
Had a little woman always tellin him that hes wrong.
Eve said to adam, ¡°heres an apple you horse¡±
And delilah defoliated samsons moss.
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed
Thats what I to my baby said,
Womens liberation is a-going to your head,
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed.
Mean-hearted harpies are breaking all the laws
Tearing up their girdles and a-burning up their bras,
Now the air is dirty and the sex is clean
And your coffee makes my hair turn green.
So damn emancipated in your mind and your body,
Gonna have to cancel all your lessons in karate.
If you cant love a male chauvinist
Youd better cross me off your shopping list.
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed
Thats what I to my baby said,
Womens liberation is a-going to your head,
Get your biscuits in the oven and your buns in the bed.

They should start knitting now.
Sounds like this "Catholic" "nun" would be happier with a return to the pagan, goddess-worshipping days before Christ.
They seem more suited to holding back the North Sea, in Holland.
So to speak. ;'}
I guess there are no men in the world who suffer in poverty. We're all rich millionaire types.

I think that Sister Donna needs to quit praying so much, and start reading her Bible ALOT more. She's spending so much time talking to God she's not listening to what he's saying in his word. There's a big difference in "organized" religions out there. She needs to know which one she belongs to.
For one, if she read her Bible she would know that the true Christianity doesn't enslave anybody, male or female.
Secondly, the Apostle Paul mentions that men are to govern the church and home. He also tells what the role of women are. And with that he tells them all what type of attitude they should have while they serve each other in their God appointed roles.
If Sister Donna or any other woman (or man for that matter) has a problem of what the roles for women and men are in the church (or the home) the should bring it before God, he's the author (and the authority)
LOL! Good song by a great name. :o)
A female Pope is known as a Pip.
If Sister Quinn feels disenfranchised by the Catholic Church, why is she a Catholic? If she's not happy with her religion than she ought to get out. That should be a "no brainer".
With stupidity like this, how can this idiot nun and her buddies expect people to ever take them seriously? Just goes to show why the old religious communities are dying out. Why would faithful Catholic women ever want to join them?

Equal in value YES. Equal in roles NO!
"Why you gotta go and act like a man?"It's called penis envy.
