CBS Cameraman Shot By US Troops Under Arrest
Troops believe he was working for insurgents, not just covering them as reporter.
Just announced on CNN. Developing...
Jane Fondas most infamous work on behalf of the North Vietnamese communists took place in July 1972, though it was merely a continuation of what she had already been doing for years. In Hanoi, Fonda posed with a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft crew and made radio broadcasts charging the United States with committing genocide against peaceful Vietnamese civilians.
She falsely described the American prisoners who had been forced to meet with her as well cared for, and said she felt from them a very sincere desire to explain to the American people that this was a terrible crime and that it must be stopped. Upon departing North Vietnam, Fonda accepted from her hosts a ring made from the wreckage of a downed American plane -- a symbol of her solidarity with their cause. When the POWs returned home the following year they reported having been starved, beaten and tortured by their captors in an effort to make them sign papers confessing to war crimes.
Fonda proceeded to call the freed prisoners "hypocrites and pawns," and stated that; "Tortured men do not march smartly off planes, salute the flag, and kiss their wives. They are liars.
in addition, i also heard one of the pow's say that a note had been slipped to her, which she turned over to the vietcong. i thought it was on that controversial vietnam vets tv special to be shown before the election. can't remember details.

Iraqi cameraman for CBS detained US troops in Iraq
US troops are engaged in regular clashes with Iraqi insurgents
An Iraqi cameraman carrying credentials for the United States network CBS is being held on suspicion of rebel activity, the US military in Iraq said.
The cameraman suffered minor injuries during a battle in the northern town of Mosul on Tuesday between US soldiers and suspected insurgents, reports say.
The military said he had been standing near a rebel killed in the shootout.
The cameraman was detained because he may pose a "threat to coalition forces", according to the military.
He "will be processed as any other security detainee", it said in a statement on Friday.
On Tuesday a CBS journalist in Baghdad told AFP news agency that the network's cameraman in Mosul, named as Abdel Amir Younes Hussein, had been wounded.
After the military statement was released on Friday, a CBS spokeswoman said the network was "looking into the situation".

Abdul Amir Younis Hussein? Sure sounds like it.
I'm not up on the latest arms - perhaps they have a modern version?
The newer M25 versions of the old M14 have had a few of the old flaws [the front sling swivel that tore through the stock, the screw on the front sight that loosened and let the sight fall off] fized, though a couple are still with us. And there've been some other serious real improvements and upgrades.
And as always, the Army, Navy, [SEALS] Marines and USAF have differing ideas as to what improvements are most needed and the best way of doing things, particularly as to optical sights and overall weight go.
The roller on the bolt still cracks and falls off, though, especially if the talcum-like sand gets built up in it. and oil only attracts more dusty, gritty sand.
So THAT is what happened to Dan Rather!
Hey, thanks for the link.
Great info there.
The US Troops are under arrest? I think your explanation is more confusing. Are the troops under arrest or is the camera man who was shot, now under arrest?
Sadly, NOTHING surprises me anymore.
So, the cameraman arrested the US troops and the US troops shot him and.... ran away?
"CBS Cameraman Shot By US Troops Under Arrest"
Wow. . .the US troops were under arrest?
well, I didn't have a problem with it. Then again, we did practice sentence diagramming when we were in high school. I doubt they do that much anymore or practiced it widely even when I was. Granted, article titles often leave out words, especially state of being verbs.
You mean like this?
You mean like this?
Note: just like never bringing a knife to a gunfight, it doesn't pay to bring a rifle to a tank fight.
Yup.
;-)
Got to be a democrat and voted for Hanoi-kerry. NSNR
A good start?
