Do you want to make a change and see some justice? Congressman Tom DeLay said the House Judiciary Committee will be investigating Terri's case and making recommendations to the full house about any reforms that they believe are necessary in this debacle over Terri's life and death.

This thread is to brainstorm, and to report what contacts we have made and the results. Below is a link to the committee members.

Anyone who wants to help organize a ping list- SPEAK UP. We need someone to make a list of objectives and contacts.

This thread is for activism. If you are not interested in that - please move to a different thread. I am done with the flame wars.

This is for those who want action and want a change.

The societal cancer, conceived in the sixties and born with Roe v. Wade, has spread far enough.

I cannot sit idly by and do nothing while the nation my ancestors bled for slips silently into Europesque decadence and irrelevance.

Please add my name, too, to your list.

"For these and related reasons, every federal judge involved in the execution of Terri Schiavo has violated their office as judge and have committed the high crime of being an accessory to murder. Therefore every judge so tainted MUST be impeached by Congress and removed from the bench."

Man's wisdom is God's folly, but sometimes I wonder why it seems to be people like Soros and Gates who become immensely wealthy, and misuse their wealth for evil purposes, and rarely if ever someone who would use his wealth in a cause like this.

Still, His will be done.

I have already contacted both of my Senators. I filed a complaint that as a Nurse I do not consider food and water extraordinary means. There have been plenty of people euthanized this way of all ages.

These are points to remember
LOOK HERE

AND HERE

Can the two of you help to make up a set of "talking points" for our little group which we can post and send to the ping list?

We need to sound informed when we are contacting our reps and they need to know we are serious.

What can we ask for?

You all may be interested in reading what the GOP has to say about us folks who wanted Terri to stay alive.

The Pendulum Has Swung Too Far on Terri's Fight for Life

Personally, I found it offensive tripe....it's scolding those who were vocal in their condemnations of our government.....our fault now if they can't get things passed. We're a bunch of religious fanatics and have acted self-righteously. How's that?

You can also see it on this thread.

The battle for the courts
WorldNetDaily ^ | 3/31/05 | William Rusher
Posted on 03/31/2005 8:55:04 PM EST by wagglebee

A battle is about to open in Washington that will knock such old staples as Iraq and Social Security reform right off the nation's front pages – or at least to positions well below the fold. For President Bush has renominated to various Circuit Courts of Appeal nine conservative judges whom the Democrats managed to block in the last Congress by threatening to filibuster the debates on their confirmation.

In that Congress, the Republicans had only 51 senators, which made the filibuster threat real (since they would need 60 to end a filibuster). Nor could Republicans even be sure of holding all 51 on a vote to uphold a ruling by the chair that filibustering a judicial nomination is unconstitutional, and that a simple majority would thus be sufficient for confirmation. Arizona Sen. John McCain, and perhaps other Republicans, are uncomfortable with the notion of invalidating filibusters, reasoning that the GOP itself may want to use that weapon someday.

But in this Congress the Republicans have 55 senators, which, even if not enough to end a filibuster, should make it possible to find 51 votes to uphold a ruling by the chair (which, be it remembered, is occupied by Vice President Cheney).

The Democrats are warning that, if the Republicans go that route, they will raise unshirted Hell – holding up all Senate business by withholding the unanimous consent required for routine motions, etc. The question is whether the Republican majority has the stomach to insist upon its prerogative, as the majority party, to have its way in the Senate. The Democrats are hailing the filibuster as a precious instrument to prevent an arrogant majority from riding roughshod over a determined minority – a last-ditch protection, as it were, for an endangered minority.

Please ping Diva Betsy Ross or me to be on this NOC (Nuclear Option Committee) list for Judicial Activism to carry the fight forward.

I would be honored and grateful to make any contribution that I can. However, I really think a lawyer needs to be involved. Someone like me could make an elementary error in law that would make the entire effort look silly.

Irene, this whole thing has almost paralyzed me for the past few days. (just went through it with my father in law, but he was dying..........and Terri wasn't. I had to make the decision to "pull the plug" on him. Gary was out of the country and his brothers deferred to me. With God's blessings, I did what I felt was the right thing to do under the circumstances. A terrible thing to have to confront, but I really feel I made the right choice. He was suffering.....and is no more. I was with him when he died.)

I've sent messages to people I know in Washington. (I do have a few personal contacts)

Well , so what.

We will keep working on it anyway! How about that?

Nic? Who is very, very familiar with this case who can help make a list of objectives for us- we need to point our reps to the cold hard facts- not speculation or emotion.

Who do you know that knows the ins and outs the very best?
