Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
WE can't post anything from The Empire Journal except title, url, and at most first paragraph.
Would you clean up the post and then hit abuse on yourself to have the post with article text removed please?
sickened by Jeb Bush's copout
I know what he is but he's assuming a great deal such as his choices are what everyone would want. Forcing a physically healthy woman to die is not the stand a real Christian would take either. His bilge that no one would want to live as a disabled person is a sign of lack of character and signals cowardice in the face of trials and tribulation.
I've said it before, I'll say it again:
Several years ago I read a Christian-Fiction book called "A Perfect Persecution". In that book, euthanasia is common. Right to die becomes "duty to die". Abortions are state ordered after state-ordered testing reveals an imperfect "fetus", and innocent babies in the womb are referred to as "meat". And I thought, after I read this book..."That stuff will never happen, but it was an interesting read."
I re-read that book several days ago. Stayed up 'til 4:30 a.m. to finish it because I was so stunned. Many of the laws cited in the first part of the book have already become reality. We're headed toward bringing much more of that book into the non-fiction world. And I don't know when I will sleep again. I'm not kidding. My heart is broken. I hate the America my beautiful child will inherit. It's not that life has no value, only that "certain" life has no value.
God help us. God help us all. Non-Christians and liberals are so upset about having morals "pushed" onto them. Quite frankly, I'm abso-freakin-lutely sick and tired of these people systematically trying to tie me to the sled on which they're sliding to hell. I've made mistakes, gigantic ones, sins even -- things I'm ashamed of. But I never expected anyone else to enable or accompany me down the awful path I took.
I'm sorry this is so long and disjointed. I'm emotionally exhausted, like many of us.
Schnitt broadcasts locally. Last I heard him, he was on the wrong side. Might give you a sense of what's going on by hearing his callers, though.
You are so right about not feeding the trolls. I am quite impressed with self-control people here use in dealing with such people. It's not easy to pass them by, but it's the only way.
Perhaps one of the best ways to show the Republican Party that we mean business IS to switch parties (in my case, Constitution Party). I would support a Republican candidate if it was a toss up between a Dem and a Republican, but I will campaign for Constitution Party candidates and pray they get a foothold in the country.
Read Orwell's "1984" again too, if you haven't for a long while. I'm almost convinced the Lord was behind that book...it almost reads like prophecy!
Amen, Pegita!
Sickened by W's copout even more.
I believe Jed is a good man. He has to judge if an impeachment trial by these same EVIL ones trumps staying on as Governor. Would you chance the kangaroo court/s that they are hoping for?? A take over by these EVIL ppl and their adgenda? Probably not. Give him some room.
Someone here came up with a brilliant line!
Call Jeb's office and say if grannies and children can be arrested, then so can he.
But I truly believe the best option would be for the president to write an executive order - a much cleaner sweep and tougher for anyone else to undo.
By the way, I remember feeling sick upon viewing video footage years ago - of Barbara Bush saying she is pro-abortion, but her husband was pro-life.
Is Jeb even there? Hasn't the Easter holiday week-end begun? Besides, he already said he won't do anything. He has lawyers looking into it.......I really have no hope that Jeb Bush will do anything. Nobody seems to want to rock the boat. Which to me says Terri just isn't important enough to go up against Greer and cause a supposed constitutional crisis.
Spiritual adviser on now.....says Jeb could actually do something.....
That one falsely claimed Christianity. Couldn't keep quiet. Nowhere in the Bible does God say we have the right to take a life because they are disabled. Nor does it say we may kill ourselves because of cowardice in the face of a physical impairment.
It should be simple enough for President Bush...
Greer is in contempt of Congress right now.
He could intervene if he wanted to.
That would be something. He says he cannot act to save Terri but he COULD show how he feels... if he is sincere about that.
Thanks for the info. I called them and made a formal complaint. I also said even if poor Terri cannot recover from the starvation they should remove her from the hospice so her parents could spend her final moments together without guards with guns watching them. I thanked them for their work and told them they were in my prayers.
"Forcing a physically healthy woman to die is not the stand a real Christian would take either. His bilge that no one would want to live as a disabled person is a sign of lack of character and signals cowardice in the face of trials and tribulation."
I agree with you. I just don't want to see you get angry since that's the real reason for his type to come on these threads. He's trying to mock us like the PoC did with Floriduh Voter.
Like Senator King a couple of days ago, he stated as fact that he KNOWS what Terri wants, because he postulates that he wouldn't want to live that way and "nobody would want to live that way." He then went on to say that it was all God's will that Terri die, and that we should blame God and not him if the courts ruled a way we didn't like.
These guys think they're mocking us, they think they're hurting us, but they're only hurting themselves. They may feel great pride that they think they're telling the truth to a bunch of spiritually blinded people. To them I say, God will not be mocked.
Yeah, I know. Tough to know whether to bite the lip or speak up in a case like that.
Doctor on Linda Vester, Fox now. Speaking favorably about Terri.
