Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
Unbelievable how many think its OKAY to starve someone in a coma!
It is NEVER OKAY to starve someone! To starve a person is ALWAYS evil!
THAT'S a CROCK and we ALL KNOW IT!!!
Yes, we may forget a temporary tax rebate check or the capture of a couple of terrorists, but we will never forget the horrors inflicted on this defenseless woman in Pinellas Co., FL. When I vote in 2006 and 2008, I will say to myself: "This vote was for you, Terri."
Yeah, really!
Julie Banderas? She must have gotten educated by the crowd. I sent a complaint to FOX a couple weeks ago when Julie said that Terri was "at the mercy of a feeding tube."
I can't do that. I have to put principle first before party. Putting party first means one's more interested in power; and willing to compromise principle and morality for it. Such a bright, sharp line between good and evil has been drawn by this issue, that that type of compromise is no longer an option.
If those who voted for Carter or Ford only because they thought Anderson would lose had gone ahead and voted for Anderson, he could have won or come close to it. I know I'll be told I'm "throwing my vote away" on someone who can't win. I don't care, because I won't throw my conscience away, period.
AMEN! AMEN!
Amen. As Dickens understood the "best" and the "worst" of times, so has Terri's plight separated those who are compassionate from those who "talk compassion."
Don't you know compassion now has a price tag.
Amen!
Did you all see the thread FR vs. DU?
It's just now pulled for being 'posted by a troll.'
Before it was pulled though, many freepers jumped on to voice their support in labeling us irrational.
If I'm irrational and a whackjob for believing that it's wrong to starve and dehydrate people, the most helpless of people, to death, then so be it.
Agreed.
Wampus, it was Reagan, Carter, and Anderson in 1980. Then Anderson defected to Walter Mondale in 1984.
Secondly, I just said vote in the Republican primaries first, then go third party or sit out a general election contest if you cannot support anyone.
The Constitution Party does not even keep an up-to-date web page at this point. In some states if one "joins" a third party of this kind, he is barred from primaries. I don't know if that applies in SC, but you could not vote in a SC primary AND also be active in the party structure of the Constitution Party.
Howard Phillips, one of the founders of the Constitution Party, was (with Jerry Falwell) about the only people to warn of the liberalism of Sandra Day O'Connor in 1981. So much for that Reaganite appointment, and remember, ALL the Reagan court appointees voted against poor Terri.

Schiavo Case Tangled Web of Deception, Corruption
By June Maxam and Ginger Berlin
© The Empire Journal
What a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
How applicable to the Terri Schiavo case.
Virtually as soon as Michael Schiavo received the monies from the medical malpractice claim involving his wife, Terri Schindler-Schiavo, he withheld all therapy and rehabilitation services from her.
Terri Schiavo had sustained a serious brain injury as the result of a suspicious incident in their home in 1990 and in 1992, her husband had filed claims against several of her former doctors, claiming her collapse was caused by a misdiagnosis. He received over $1.5 million in 1993 including $750,000 which had been specifically earmarked by the trial jury for Terris rehabilitation based on a life expectancy of 50 years.
Mary and Bob Schindler Sr., her parents, consulted a St. Petersburg attorney about removing Michael Schiavo as their daughters guardian and discussed the case at length with him.
Unfortunately, the Schindlers did not have the amount of money the attorney demanded as a retainer to take the case.
That attorney became the judge in the case-----a totally prohibited conflict of interest.
Thereafter, the attorney-judge approved the hiring of George Felos as the attorney for Schiavo to be paid from the trust fund and the stage was set for her judicial homicide..
The judge wasnt George W. Greer.
It was Mark I. Shames.
The people that you and Awestruck are complaining about on this forum are RNC and Bush bitter-enders. Some of them actually believe that the GOP can still win "without" the so-called "religious right," which has not been all that vocal in the fight to save Terri that I can tell.
These sorts of tragedies and injustices may stir him to become involved.
GMTA :)
No, if Terri were rich, powerful, and glamorous, Jeb Bush would have already declared an emergency, long ago rescued her, and cited "new evidence" (as in the Empire Journal) as the basis for his overriding a judicial decision. And he would be a hero today. Alas, cowardice is forever. Now, if Terri had just been popular...
Well then I guess Rush, Ann Coulter and many other conservative leaders are irrational too!
