Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
Happy Easter to you too! I better go to bed as well. God Bless!!!
Depends on if any "mortal sins" were commited. It would seem to me that if you were instructed in the faith and then walked away from it, you most likely commited mortal sin....missing Mass, being only one mortal sin...maybe more. There isn't a sin that just about any priest hasn't heard before. Go to confession and get your soul "cleaned up". Remember...you're not telling your sins to a man...you're telling to Jesus. Jesus works through the priest. It is Jesus, acting through the priest that absolves you from your sins. You than tell Jesus that you are sorry and that you will do your best not to commit those sins again. There are several resources for making an "examination of conscience". The best one I could recommend is a tape/CD of Fr. Caropi. He does an excellent lesson on how to go to confession. I just saw the tape last week...it's excellent. Sorry for the amt of bandwidth consumed....just wanted to help.
I think one good thing to come out of this tragedy is maybe it is getting people to think about things like the soul, spirit, etc. The body decays unless you're a very unusually holy person. The soul leaves the body at death and in Catholic tradition goes to Purgatory, to "get cleaned up" before presenting itself to our Lord in heaven. There are two judgements as I understand it...the judgement that comes right at death....heaven or hell. Like I mentioned, if it's heaven then "purgatory" comes before entering heaven. Some may go straight to heaven. There are ways this can be achieved. Then there is the general judgement at the end of the world. This is when all will be called out of their graves and if going to heaven, will have their "glorified bodies" united with their souls in heaven. Hope that helps. I can direct anyone interested to specific resources if necessary....offline or whatever.
I'm getting the feeling that Terri's fight is our fight also. We're searching for truth and fighting the evil in the world as best we can. Some of us are not too well equiped for battle and need a little more "armor". There have been several in this forum graciously helping by freely handing out some armor to those in need.
The "steps to prepare", to be fully armed and strengthened for the things which are coming upon the earth.
Humbly submitted.
!!
That's the beauty of Easter...we are all redeemable. God sees all of us even worse than we're seeing Michael right now...he knows what's in the human heart and what we're capable of. That's sin. Paul was a murderer...and he murdered Christians. He was redeemed and mightily used. As the Bible says, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. No one is beyond redemption according to scripture, because once we accept Christ's sacrifice for us, our spirit is reborn...we are a NEW creature, the old is passed away. No one in their present sinful state is in safe waters...but Jesus said that once we accept him we pass from death into life. If Michael came to Christ he would be a new person...and that would be the person Jesus would be dealing with.
The girl behind the girl holding the large red flower is the very image of me about twenty years ago...identical. I can't believe it.
THAT is wonderful. Thank you for sharing that.
The best way to think about this is that the soul animates the body.
Hi, amdgmary -- thanks always for your posts. I am so sorry I did not get to meet you, but fv has something for you...
Last night we could see how this is coming down. felos said that last rites were given when the tube was pulled by the **hospice** priest (rather than Terri's/the Schindlers' priest...), and in a way that 'the court' had authorized. 'The court' had also authorized that Terri could receive communion one more time before she dies -- probably today. IOW, Terri's religious rights are being vetted by 'the court' -- and felos plays it as if that's what he and michael have to do, their hands are clean. This was all carefully crafted by them. Precedent...lessons learned...this beast will become even stronger.
This is all I want to post for now -- as prayers continue for Terri, the Schindlers, you, and their many friends. Love to you all.

Thanks for the reply, Russ.
I will check into the tape you mentioned.
Many prayers for The Schindlers and their beloved daughter Terri on this Easter morning. May God continue to give them strength and comfort and bless them.

Dearest Friends of Terri,
I am very distraught this evening. I have contemplated whether to send this information to the people who have remained steadfast and very dedicated in their fight to free Terri from her captors. However, after great consideration, I feel it is only right that I share with you, Terri's supporters, the information I have been given to me this evening by Terri's family.
As we all have come to know, Terri Schindler is a strong woman who has an incredible will to live. Despite the daily inhumane torture that is inflicted upon her by estranged spouse, Michael Schiavo, (the man who has allowed her to lay in a bed with no food and water for the past eight days), she has been fighting very hard to remain alive. Last Friday, in spite of her not being permitted therapy since 1993, Terri even tried to articulate the words "I Waaaaaa" in a very loud voice, in response to Attorney Barbara Weller saying to her, "all you have to do Terri is tell us you want to live, and this whole thing can be over Terri."
Under normal circumstances, considering how well hydrated and nourished Terri has been due to receiving the balanced nutritional elements in enteral feedings, it would seem reasonable for Terri to live for another week, or so.
However, what was reported by her family tonight, has presented my worst fears. Terri's breathing has changed and has recently become very labored. I am assuming this is happening so quickly because of the possible initiation of Woodside's "exit protocol." A protocol which delivers to her nebulized morphine, a narcotic which suppresses respirations. The "exit protocol" was obviously written to enhance her death process.
Woodside claims Morphine was to be administered to provide her with so-called "comfort" measures. Odd, however, they would find it necessary to administer Morphine to a patient who Schiavo and Felos have declared all along has no pain, is without any feelings, and is brain dead.
It appears they are killing Terri faster than she has the ability to fight to stay alive any longer. Terri's family are physically and emotionally worn out. They feel disappointed and deserted by government leaders who they once supported. They pleaded for help from them to save their daughters life, but were repeatedly turned down by judges who chose to err on the side of death, as opposed to life. Sadly, leaving them alone to stand by and witness their daughter fighting against the inhumane death of starvation and dehydration.
The callous, cruel and bizarre behaviors we have also witnessed from Schiavo in his determination to rapidly kill the wife he claims to love; leads us to assume he may now be on a rapid mission to leave Terri's parents with the memory of her death on Easter.
Please pray that God continues to protect Terri. Pray that He will provide Terri with peace as she struggles to take her final breaths. Please pray that He allows her family to feel confident that they did everything possible to save her life. Please pray that He allows them to know how much she loves them for the valiant fight they have made on her behalf. Please pray that if Terri is forced to take her final breaths, it can be with her family by her bedside and not Michael Schiavo. Pray that someday soon she will be capable of inhaling the beauty of LIFE, in a place where no more harm will come to her.
As Terri now lays taking labored breaths, I myself, am given a sense of peace in knowing if she dies, she will soon be free from Michael ever bringing harm to her again. I will no longer have to worry about what he may do to her; or, how she has had to stay locked up in a room away from her family and the beautiful sounds of the earth we each are all able to enjoy each day. I will pray for each of you that you find peace within yourself in knowing you have each helped Terri in your own special way.
In the meantime, please know, for as long as Terri is alive and fighting, I will continue to pray for a miracle and will keep on fighting for her until her final breaths are taken.
I ask that you all join me in doing the same.
Thank you so much for being an enormous strength for Terri's family. They continue to appreciate the love and dedication you continue to show to Terri, and to each of them.
I will keep you posted.
Respectfully, and with great admiration,
Cheryl Ford RN

I want to expand "burning everything on the altar"a bit. This is a process. It is achieved by urgently seeking God one on One, in our quiet place, whether it's in our homes, in the backyard, anywhere we can meet with God alone. It is a time of very deep review of everything we hold dear, allowing the Holy Spirit to take his holy light and to begin to shine on all that keeps us from a very high knowledge and committment to God.
As we begin to see these revelations (it could be our possessions, family members, attitudes, even our churches), He gives us an overcoming spirit to release our control to God.
The end result is that our attitude about all that we know is changed forever. And as all of these layers begin to peel away, we stand before Him naked. He then fills us with a new purpose, a new understanding and an increased desire to lay down ALL for Him. This is just the first step and again it is a process that can be painful at times. John the Baptist said it, we must decrease that He may increase in us.
Christ in us the hope of glory. Col 1:27.
God Bless you brother as you seek after the Lord. We're never too old, hey, in the light of eternity, we are spring chickens.
I would have voted for W over Kerry also no matter what, but my question was directed towards Terri. Would Terri have had a better chance at living if this would have happened before the election. What would GW or Jeb had done? Would they have stepped in to save her then? This is my question. I am sorry I did not phrase it correctly. Just wonder what you all think. Thanks
Do we need a new Easter Sunday prayer vigil thread?
Thanks for the thoughts.
I'm very much into contemplation. I'm working my way through the beginning stages of the Dominican Third Order.
Poster idea. Print up pictures from various movies or paintings of Pontius Pilate washing his hands. Point these out to all those around. We are all to blame for letting this go this far.
