Judge George Greer ruled that the State of Florida has no right to take custody of Terri Schiavo, which ruling came hours after an appeal by Terri's parents to re-insert the feeding tube was refused by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, another hearing was scheduled tonight before US District Judge James D. Whittemore .. the same judge who previously heard and denied the request subsequent to the 'de novo' intention of the law past last weekend by the Congress and signed by President Bush, in an effort to confirm that no stone was left unturned before Terri would endure legally sanctioned dehydration until death.
I don't think Jeb can be arrested. Most states do not allow it of an official of his stature while on official business. You're right though, he can be impeached. But impeachment takes time. In that time, he could investigate the proper application of the law as they are applying it to Terri. He could throw his weight around as governor if he had the will to do so. He would have to decide that the life of one of his fellow citizens is more important than his political career.
It would be messy, but that is exactly what has been long set up in the state of Florida. Multiple laws have been nudged this way and that to allow a disabled woman to be starved to death, while protecting the people doing it. Do you clean up a mess, or leave it because it's just too much work?
This is true; Floridians need to rally 'round to force their senators and representatives to change this evil law. Jeb needs to hear support for him to make a positive change over this. Terri's murder cries out for that.
I was told by a Deputy Sheriff, who thinks this is wrong, what is being done to Terri, that County Sheriffs have strongest police powers. They are not "ordered" by the Governor. State Troopers/Patrols have less police power than County Sheriffs, City Police, even less.
If there were a "raid" it would have to have been made by the National Guard. I understand that Jeb appealed to go in to remove Terri and the Florida Supreme Court denied...which means, really, law enforcement throughout the state would be in trouble.
Ugly picture of reality.
Given that scenario, I don't know what Jeb could really do....except for what I fault him for most: I think he could have gotten some kind of investigation started months ago into the "alleged" criminal activities being covered up. What department that would come under, I don't know.
TO ANYONE AT WOODSIDE HOWSCHITZ: Poster idea. Print up pictures from various movies or paintings of Pontius Pilate washing his hands. Point these out to all those around. We are all to blame for letting this go this far.
A true lady said: "Jeb has the blood of Terri on his hands
My heart is breaking for Terri and her family also."
And someone responded: "But please stop saying that .. there is nothing Jeb can do."
Another person responded: "And so do you."
I'll just say that we've got a real problem in our country right now with people worshipping the Bushes. Some of us are trusting government way too much. I know how difficult it is right now to see the ENORMITY of what this means for our country. We all yearn to believe our leadership is clean. Excusing the Bushes is tantamount to excusing Pontius Pilate. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43489
I voted for Bush. I supported them. When people would say negatives about them, I countered them. But I feel God has now opened my eyes to the truth.
And I, quite frankly, think it is enormously rude of someone to say that anyone here has Terri's blood on their hands, especially A True Lady whose posts have been so genuinely sincere and helpful.
Shame on you.
In some ways I agree
But I have to admit that I find it troubling that a County Probate Judge can tell the Gov of Fl., Congress and even the President of the US to basically go shove it
I wouldn't be surprised that he already has the information on just who the bad guys really are. Remember, Barbara Bush taught her sons well.
Not just Greer, there were scores of judges that affirmed Terri Schiavo's execution, including the Supreme Court of the United States.
It makes it a bit more understandable how the Jews of Jerusalem, living under cruel Roman occupation and authoriy, were unable to stop the execution of Jesus.
I wouldn't be surprised, either. I hope he does spring cleaning.
so do I.
How about a pro-life living will?
I direct my health care provider(s) and health care agent to make health care decisions consistent with my general desire for the use of medical treatment that would preserve my life, as well as for the use of medical treatment that can cure, improve, or reduce or prevent deterioration in, any physical or mental condition.
Food and water are not medical treatment, but basic necessities. I direct my health care provider(s) and health care agent to provide me with food and fluids orally, intravenously, by tube, or by other means to the full extent necessary both to preserve my life and to assure me the optimal health possible.
I direct that medication to alleviate my pain be provided, as long as the medication is not used in order to cause my death. I direct that the following be provided: the administration of medication, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); and the performance of all other medical procedures, techniques, and technologies, including surgery, -- all to the full extent necessary to correct, reverse, or alleviate life-threatening or health-impairing conditions, or complications arising from those conditions.
I also direct that I be provided basic nursing care and procedures to provide comfort care. I reject, however, any treatments that use an unborn or newborn child, or any tissue or organ of an unborn or newborn child, who has been subject to an induced abortion. This rejection does not apply to the use of tissues or organs obtained in the course of the removal of an ectopic pregnancy. I also reject any treatments that use an organ or tissue of another person obtained in a manner that causes, contributes to, or hastens that person's death.
The instructions in this document are intended to be followed even if suicide is alleged to be attempted at some point after it is signed.
I request and direct that medical treatment and care be provided to me to preserve my life without discrimination based on my age or physical or mental disability or the "quality" of my life. I reject any action or omission that is intended to cause or hasten my death.
I direct my health care provider(s) and health care agent to follow the above policy, even if I am judged to be incompetent. During the time I am incompetent, my agent, as named below, is authorized to make medical decisions on my behalf, consistent with the above policy, after consultation with my health care provider(s), utilizing the most current diagnoses and/or prognosis of my medical condition, in the following situations with the written special conditions.
WHEN MY DEATH IS IMMINENT
1. If I have an incurable terminal illness or injury, and I will die imminently--meaning that a reasonably prudent physician, knowledgeable about the case and the treatment possibilities with respect to the medical conditions involved, would judge that I will live only a week or less even if lifesaving treatment or care is provided to me--the following may be withheld or withdrawn:
YOU MAY NOT WITHDRAW ANY TREATMENT, FOR ANY REASON
WHEN I AM TERMINALLY ILL
2. Final Stage of Terminal Condition. If I have an incurable terminal illness or injury and even though death is not imminent I am in the final stage of that terminal condition--meaning that a reasonably prudent physician, knowledgeable about the case and the treatment possibilities with respect to the medical conditions involved, would judge that I will live only three months or less, even if lifesaving treatment or care is provided to me--the following may be withheld or withdrawn:
YOU MAY NOT WITHDRAW ANY TREATMENT, FOR ANY REASON
I understand that I have the right to revoke the appointment of the persons named below to act on my behalf at any time by communicating that decision to the agent or my health care provider.
I hereby revoke all prior designations of agent under any other Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care Decision Making I have made in the past.
If the authority granted in this document conflicts with authority I have granted in a Health Care Declaration/Living Will or designation of Proxy for intrusive mental health treatment, the person designated most recently shall control the outcome of that conflict.
If any part of this document is held to be unenforceable under law, I direct that all of the other provisions of the document shall remain in force and effect.

No .. should he have an impeachment investigation/hearing .. it will have no baring on Terri and her case
Her's is a separate case and is still under court order to have the feeding tube removed
I'm sure he will, nic, but first the dirt needs to be exposed so you know what you're doing. The whole country now sees the need.
Not to take away from Terri's thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1371531/posts
There are now investigations for group homes' deaths of disabled people. It is alleged they were killed to save money.
Problem is, Florida law says it doesn't matter what's in your Living Will. The law cancels it out.
"They also state that advanced directives providing for treatment should not carry the same weight as directives withdrawing care, and advanced directives should not compel the physican to provide them, regardless if the patient needs them (Doty).
Doty is part of the Florida Bioethics Network as well as Project Grace. One of the changes in the law in CB/CB/SB 2228 includes the Bioethics Network as part of the process of withdrawing care".
Why Jeb Bush appointed him guardian I will never know. What I do know from reading the Web, is that he is somehow connected to the hospice movement and that Terri's parents opposed him. Incidentally a guardian ad litem in the 90's stated that the tube should not be removed since she was not comatose.
Go figure on why and how this matter came to one judge making the law for the whole country and millions of disabled people. At least 16 disabled organizations wrote a brief in support of the Bush law; however, they like everyone else who differs with one judge have no influence let alone power in this matter.
Incidentally, it is my understanding that a guardian ad litem is appointed only for a court case. Why this man?
Jeb did not appoint Wolfson: Greer did.
I only meant that in the time before official impeachment proceedings started, that he could start his own investigations into the proper adherance to the law, some possibly criminal. I didn't mean the two would be tied together.
But, a governor intent on investigating the circumstances, and having had Terri examined after emergency removal, he might have more weight in being granted state custody. Too, the state could request Greer dismiss himself. After the examination, if it is shown that Terri is not PVS, that could throw the legal battle into criminal court which would definitely take the ball out of Greer's jurisdiction.
There are some different avenues that could be taken. But they require guts and a willingness to potentially give up his political career, as governor at least. But, were criminal charges warranted or even misapplication of the law, having saved Terri might pressure Congress to not vote against him.
Holy Father,
We cry out in disbelief for Your child, Terri, and also for our beloved country. Evil is being called good, and good---evil. We wonder if we are in a foreign land where Your Name is not known or revered. Our hearts are heavy with a tremendous sense of loss for what once was----a time when life was respected, when Your Name was not "offensive," when children were loved and welcomed, when personal responsiblity was taught and expected, when schools were safe, when Sundays were reserved for Your worship and for rest. O Lord, how far we have fallen. We are all to blame, for we have incrementally accepted our slow but steady drift away from You and Your teachings. We have all contributed to the sins of the cross. We have all denied You far more often than Peter ever did. And then we reach a point of tremendous crisis such as this and wonder why so many hearts are blind and deaf to Your Will. Surely you cry over us, Father, just as Jesus cried for Jerusalem.
But we know, Precious Lord, that the very reason that our Savior died for us gives us hope. He died so that we might live. He died so that we could be free from all the devil's destruction. He died so that death would no longer have victory over us. Gracious God, look upon Your children now who cry out to You for forgiveness for this nation, for ourselves as individuals, and for Your Will to be done for Your beautiful child, Terri. Our eyes are lifted up. When we look around us we shudder. Only when are eyes are stayed upon You can we begin walking toward You---out of the darkness and into the light. Have mercy on us, O Lord, for the sake of Your remnant. In the Name of Jesus. Amen.
