I wonder if they can take her into custody and thenfile the papers for that under auspices of constraint of time?

Nice theory, but in fact they are wetting their pants with the prospect of going in.

Isn't going to happen IMO.

Has everyone just heard David Boies talk on Fox? This case is getting weirder and weirder...

His point is that if Terri stated that she wanted to die in this condition, that it would be a violation of her rights to insert the feeding tube.

But if she did not say that, that it would be a violation of her rights to not replace the tube now.

He stated that the federal court DID NOT look at this question, BECAUSE the Schindler's atty DID NOT ASK IT TO.

Didn't Freeper Nick Danger say the same thing??

So, in effect, NONE of these oft-mentioned 19+ lawyers have even addressed this issue...

They say the Lord works in strange ways. If Terri doesn't make it, I can imagine the number of people that will be screaming for Bush's pro-life judges. People know they could end up as a Terri themselves some day, or someone they love could end up that way, and they'll want those who value life around to protect them from the pro-death crowd.

Yes...but our foreign friends only support reprieves and stays for vicious murderers. So the court would find that, according to international law, it is OK to kill someone if they indeed have not molested a child or murdered someone in cold blood.

I must say, despite this terrible situation, it's helpful to have FR and FReepers to communicate with. It does make me feel a little better. If I could just be convinced this will trigger the revolution against judicial tyranny. . .

Of course everyone here remembers the last scene of Judgment at Nuremberg, where Spencer Tracy, the head tribunal judge, tells Burt Lancaster, the Nazi judge, the first time he sentenced someone he knew to be innocent to death, he was condemned. And of course, the victims at issue in the movie were JEWS AND THE DISABLED!

If the Supreme Court is the last chance, Terri is history.

Jeb must go in and get her out.

Gitmo? No. Try Abu Ghraib. That is, if your goal is to put her beyond the reach of torture.

I only passed on what I heard.

Regardless, no one's going to mount an armed rescue. Sorry, truly sorry...but that's the reality.

I have no clue why...

Or do I, however actively finding clues has been mindful in this case on my part.

I heard that also. I wish they had a TEAM oflawyers.

Seems like the lawyer said - once they said they need permission from MS - they backed down. How can they when they know there is so much evidence about mistreatment, not PVS.

Nothing is clear because they just bow to Greer - when they know what he is doing is not ethical. Fear is gripping them. Sad

SCOTUS has declined to get involved before, and I'd expect that they'll do the same this time (political, spineless weasels that they are).

I think they declined before because they said that they didn't have jurisdiction. Now, thanks to the law that was passed over the weekend and signed by Dubya, they do have jurisdiction. So if they decline to hear the case again, they'll have one less lame excuse.

"The court was given only scarce mention in the Constitution...it was meant to be the most benign. It has now become a malignant cancer that plagues this country."

So very true. We are under the "rule of lawyers" not the "rule of law."

Even Hewitt who was pretty confident last night on the appeal,is starting to invoke the name of Andrew Jackson.
He's almost ttelling Jeb Bush to face contempt of court charges and get her.

It's a shame that it's going to go this far and that there are so many people here holding out hope on the Supeme Court.

I fear though that the Supreme Court shall side on the side of Terry's husband on this though.
